We Claim - 1. A multi-column sand filtration system (300) capable of treating the wastewater wherein; the multi-column sand filtration system comprising:

An overhead wastewater supply tank (301);

multiple singular columns (302) connected together;

connecting pipes (303) to connect the different parts of the said filtration system (300);

control valve (304) to control the flow of water from one column to another; bypass valve (305) to control the flow of water being collected;

air vent (306) to allow the escape of entrapped air and to act as piezometer; collecting unit (307) to collect treated water.

2. The multi-column sand filtration system (300) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said sand grains are of different size-ranges separated out from naturally procured riverbed sand and filled in separate columns.

3. The multi-column sand filtration system (300) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said multi-column sand filtration system is an efficient and viable means of treating wastewater.

4. The multi-column sand filtration system (300) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the multiple singular columns (302) are arranged in the decreasing size-range of the sand grains.

5. The multi-column sand filtration system (300) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the partially treated water from a column (302) can be procured at any preliminary stage of operation of the multi-column sand filter (300) without disrupting the operation.

6. The multi-column sand filtration system (300) as claimed in claim 1, wherein any one or more columns (302) of the multi-column sand filter can be detached and cleaned without obstructing the functioning of rest of the columns.

7. The multi-column sand filtration system as claimed in claim 1, wherein it is not essential to operate all the columns (300) of multi-column sand filtration system and one or more columns (302) can be made non-operational while operating multi-column sand filtration system (300).

8. A method of manufacturing multi-column sand filtration system, said method comprising the steps of:

(a) connecting overhead wastewater supply tank with the inlet of the first filtration column through pipes;

(b) controlling the flow of water by control and bypass valves;

(c) connecting the outlet of the first column with the bypass valve and the inlet of the second column; the outlet of the second column with the bypass valve and the inlet of the third column and so on through pipes;

(d) controlling the flow of water by control valves and bypass valves present therein; wherein the bypass valve allows to obtain partially treated water

(filtrate) at a preliminary stage of filtration;

(e) connecting air vents to each column to allow the escape of entrapped air;

(f) collecting water in a collection unit after final filtration.
