The present disclosure relates to water purification compositions and the method of producing the same. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to compositions containing a substrate that has hydroxyl, thiol, carboxyl or amino groups, a metal oxide, and a carboxylic acid compound, and the method of producing the same. The composition is useful for the removal of soluble phosphorus, selenium, fluoride, arsenic and other heavy metal contaminants that may be present in water. The composition could be of use in numerous fields, including but not limited to, oil and gas, mining, storm water, agricultural runoffs, municipal wastewater, and industrial wastewater.

La présente invention concerne des compositions de purification de l'eau et leur procédé de production. De façon spécifique, la présente invention concerne des compositions contenant un substrat qui possède des groupes hydroxyle, thiol, carboxyle ou amino, un oxyde métallique, et un composé d'acide carboxylique, et leur procédé de production. La composition est utile pour l'élimination de phosphore soluble, de sélénium, de fluorure, d'arsenic et d'autres contaminants métalliques lourds qui peuvent être présents dans l'eau. La composition peut être utilisée dans de nombreux domaines, y compris, mais sans s'y limiter, le pétrole et le gaz, l'exploitation minière, l'eau de pluie, le lessivage des terres cultivées, les eaux usées municipales et les eaux usées industrielles.
