CLAIMS

1. A method (300) for codebook subset restriction at a user equipment (UE) (102), comprising:

receiving (302), from a network node (106), codebook subset restriction (CBSR)

signaling for a first component (128) common to precoders in a first group of codebooks (118), wherein a restriction of the first component (128) maps to a restriction of a second component, and wherein the second component (130) is common to precoders in a second group of codebooks (120); and restricting (304) precoders selectable from a codebook in the second group of

codebooks (120) based on the second component (130).

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first component (128) is a vector from a first set of vectors, and wherein the precoders in the first group of codebooks (118) comprise one or more vectors from the first set of vectors.

3. The method of either of claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the second component (130) is a vector from a second set of vectors, and wherein the precoders in the second group of codebooks (120) comprise one or more vectors from the second set of vectors.

4. The method of any of the previous claims, wherein the second component (130) comprises a vector of a different size than that of the first component (128).

5. The method of either of claim 3 or claim 4, wherein the vectors in the second set of vectors are half the size of the vectors in the first set of vectors.

6. The method of any of the previous claims, wherein the CBSR signaling comprises a bitmap comprising a plurality of bits, wherein each bit of the plurality of bits indicates a vector from the first set of vectors.

7. The method of any of claim 6, further comprising determining whether the second component (130) is restricted based on the bitmap indicating that the first component (128) is restricted.

8. The method of any of the previous claims, further comprising restricting precoders selectable from a codebook (1 19) in the first group of codebooks (1 18) based on the first component (128).

9. The method of any of the previous claims, further comprising:

selecting a precoder from the precoders selectable from the codebook in the second group of codebooks (120);

generating a channel state information (CSI) report indicating the selected precoder; and transmitting the CSI report to the network node (106).

The method of any of the previous claims, wherein the second component (130) has an index I, and the method further comprising determining whether the second component (130) is restricted based on a plurality of bits indicating whether the first component (128) is restricted for at least one of the vectors in the first set of vectors with indices 21 + 1, 21 - 1, and 21.

1 1 . The method of any of claims 1 -10, further comprising determining whether the second component (130) is restricted based on a plurality of bits indicating whether the first component (128) is restricted for each of the vectors in the first set of vectors with indices 21 + 1, 21 - 1, and 21.

The method of any of the previous claims, wherein the first component (128) has an associated index lt and the second component (130) has an associated index l2 , and wherein the second component (130) with index l2 is restricted where the first component with index lt in a window [2l2 - Alr 2l2 + A2] is restricted.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein Δχ = Δ2.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein A1 = A2 = 1, and the window size is three.

15. The method of any of the previous claims, wherein the first group of codebooks (1 18) comprises rank 1 , rank 2, rank 5, rank 6, rank 7, and/or rank 8 codebooks.

16. The method of any of the previous claims, wherein the second group of codebooks (120) comprises rank 3 and/or rank 4 codebooks.

17. A method (400) performed by a network node (106) for codebook subset restriction, comprising:

generating (402) codebook subset restriction (CBSR) signaling that indicates a first component (128) common to precoders (124) in a first group of codebooks (118), the first component (128) mapping to a second component common to precoders (126) in a second group of codebooks (120), the CBSR signaling configured to cause a user equipment (UE) (102) to restrict precoders (126) selectable from a codebook (121) in the second group of codebooks (120) based on the second component (130); and

transmitting (404) the CBSR signaling to the UE (102).

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the first component (128) is a vector from a first set of vectors, and wherein the precoders in the first group of codebooks (118) comprise one or more vectors from the first set of vectors.

19. The method of claim 17 or claim 18, wherein the second component (130) is a vector from a second set of vectors, and wherein the precoders in the second group of codebooks (120) comprise one or more vectors from the second set of vectors.

20. The method of claim 18 or claim 19, wherein the second component (130) comprises a vector of a different size than that of the first component (128).

21. The method of claim 19 or claim 20, wherein the vectors in the second set of vectors are half the size of the vectors in the first set of vectors.

22. The method of any of claims 17-21 , wherein the CBSR signaling is configured to cause the UE (102) to restrict precoders selectable from a codebook (119) in the first group of codebooks (1 18) based on the first component (128).

23. The method of any of claims 17-22, further comprising receiving, from the UE (102), a channel state information (CSI) report indicating permitted codebook subsets corresponding to restricted codebook subsets.

24. A user equipment (UE) (102) in a wireless communication network (100), the UE (102) comprising at least a processor (900) and a memory (920), wherein the memory (920) contains instructions, that when executed by the processor (900), causes the UE (102) to:

receive, from a network node (106), codebook subset restriction (CBSR) signaling for a first component (128) common to precoders in a first group of codebooks (118), wherein a restriction of the first component (128) maps to a restriction of a second component, and wherein the second component (130) is common to precoders in a second group of codebooks (120); and

restrict precoders selectable from a codebook in the second group of codebooks (120) based on the second component (130).

25. A network node (106) in a wireless communication network, the network node (106) comprising at least a processor (1000) and a memory (1010), the memory (1010) containing instructions executable by the processor (1000) to:

generate codebook subset restriction (CBSR) signaling that indicates a first component (128) common to precoders (124) in a first group of codebooks (118), the first component (128) mapping to a second component common to precoders (126) in a second group of codebooks (120), the CBSR signaling configured to cause a user equipment (UE) (102) to restrict precoders (126) selectable from a codebook (121) in the second group of codebooks (120) based on the second component (130); and

transmit the CBSR signaling to the UE (102).

26. A computer program comprising instructions which, when executed by a processor (920) of a user equipment (UE) (102), cause the UE (102) to:

receive, from a network node (106), codebook subset restriction (CBSR) signaling for a first component (128) common to precoders in a first group of codebooks (1 18), wherein a restriction of the first component (128) maps to a restriction of a second component, and wherein the second component (130) is common to precoders in a second group of codebooks (120); and

restrict precoders selectable from a codebook in the second group of codebooks (120) based on the second component (130).

27. A computer program comprising instructions which, when executed by at least one processor (1000) of a network node (106), causes the network node (106) to:

generate codebook subset restriction (CBSR) signaling that indicates a first component

(128) common to precoders (124) in a first group of codebooks (1 18), the first component (128) mapping to a second component common to precoders (126) in a second group of codebooks (120), the CBSR signaling configured to cause a user equipment (UE) (102) to restrict precoders (126) selectable from a

codebook (121) in the second group of codebooks (120) based on the second component (130); and

transmit the CBSR signaling to the UE (102).
