WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:

1. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) comprising:

a deck (104) having a through hole (136) extending vertically through the deck (104);

a frame (102) below the deck (104);

characterized by:

a pin (146) extending into the through hole (136) and having a top engagement portion configured to be engaged from above; and

a height adjustment assembly (160) mounted on the frame (102) and attached to the pin (146), the height adjustment assembly (160) raising the deck (104) upon rotation of the pin (146) in a first direction.

2. A portable system (100, 200, 300) according to claim 1, wherein the height adjustment assembly (160) lowers the deck (104) upon rotation of the pin (146) in a second direction.

3. A portable system (100, 200, 300) according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the height adjustment assembly (160) comprises a rod portion (164) a pin portion (146) threadably mounted to a bushing (162).

4. A portable system (100, 200, 300) according to any preceding claim, wherein the top engagement portion comprises a tool engagement element at an upper surface of the pin (146) and configured for engagement from above by a

complementary tool.

5. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) according to any preceding claim, further comprising a sleeve (138A) in the through hole (136) around the pin (146).

6. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) according to any preceding claim, wherein the stage (100) comprises a plurality of the decks (104) and wherein the frame (102) is configured for supporting the plurality of the decks (104).

7. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) according to any preceding claim, comprising a pin connector assembly (140), the pin connector assembly (140) comprising a housing (142) and three arms (142 A, 142B, 142C) extending from the housing (142), each of the arms (142A, 142B, 142C) having a further pin (144) mounted thereon; the further pins (144) being spaced to extend into through holes (136) of further decks (104) and support a corner of the further decks (104).

8. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) according to claim 7, wherein the further pins (144) are rotatably mounted on arms (142A, 142B, 142C) and wherein the pin connector assembly (140) comprises a housing (142) rotatably mounted for positioning one or more of the arms (142 A, 142B, 142C) below the deck (104).

9. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) according to any preceding claim, wherein the frame comprises a folding framework (102) supporting the deck (104), the deck (104) being removably mounted to the framework (102); the framework (102) comprising:

a first side framework assembly (106) and a second side framework assembly (106), the first and second side framework assemblies being proximate the opposed sides of the deck (104), each of the first and second framework assemblies having vertical columns (118) connected by a lower frame member (1 12) and two angled frame portions (114), each of the angled frame portions (114) extending from an upper section of one of the vertical columns (118) downward to a center portion of the lower frame member (112), the angled frame portions (114) forming an unobstructed space below the deck (104);

a first end framework assembly (108) and a second end framework assembly (108), the first and second end framework assemblies (108) being proximate the opposed ends of the deck (104), the first and second end framework assemblies (108) connecting the first and second side framework assemblies (106), each of the first and second end framework assemblies (108) including first and second end frame members (116); the first end frame member (116) being pivotally connected to the second end frame member (116), the first end frame member (116) being pivotally connected to the first side framework assembly (106) and the second end frame member (116) being pivotally connected to the second side framework assembly (106), wherein the framework (102) folds from an unfolded position to a folded positon wherein the first and second side framework assemblies are closer in the folded positon than in the unfolded position.

10. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) according to claim 9, wherein the first and second end frame members (106) fold inward in the folded position and are connected by a lockable hinge (132) selectively retaining the folding framework (102) in the unfolded position.

11. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) according to claim 9 or claim 10, wherein the folding framework (102) is configured for supporting a plurality of decks (104).

12. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) according to any claim 7, comprising:

a guardrail (180) mounting to the pin connector assembly (140), the guardrail (180) comprising:

a cross member (182);

a leg (184), the leg supporting the cross member (182);

a mounting bracket (186) attached to the leg (184), the mounting bracket (186) including a flange (188) having an orifice (190) configured for receiving the pin (146) and a vertical engaging surface (192) configured for engaging the connector assembly.

13. A portable stage system (100, 200, 300) according to claim 7, wherein the pin connector assembly (140) includes a guardrail mounting surface (156) and a backup mounting surface (158) on an arm (142 A, 142B, 142C), the guardrail (180) mounting to the pin connector assembly (140), the guardrail mounting surface (156) and the backup mounting surface (158) being oriented so that the guardrail (180) is positioned parallel to an edge of the deck (104).

A portable stage (100, 200, 300) according to claim 1, further comprising a pin connector assembly (140), the pin connector assembly including a plurality of the pins (144, 146), mounted on arms (142A, 142B, 142C), extending from a housing (142), the plurality of pins (144, 146) being spaced and configured so each of the pins extends into a corresponding through hole in a deck (104), wherein the housing (142) is rotatably mounted for positioning one or more of the arms below the deck (104) and includes a release assembly (148) for positioning the pin connector assembly (140) at a selected orientation.

15. A portable stage (100, 200, 300) according to claim 14, wherein the release assembly (148) includes a handle (150), a pin (152) and a spring (154), the pin (152) selectively extending through a corresponding orifice in the housing (142).
