CLAIMS

1. A thermal protector (20) comprising:

a body (22) integrally connected to a magnet wire terminating feature (24).

2. The thermal protector (20) of claim 1 , wherein the body (22) and the magnet wire terminating feature (24) are of unitary construction.

3. The thermal protector (20) of claim 1, wherein the body (22) and the magnet wire terminating feature (24) have a crimp connection.

4. A thermally protected bobbin (32) comprising:

a magnet wire (36) wound onto a spindle (34); and

a thermal protector (20) comprising a body (22) integrally connected to a magnet wire terminating feature (24);

wherein the magnet wire terminating feature (24) forms a connection with the magnet wire (36).

5. The thermal protector (20) of claim 4, wherein the body (22) and the magnet wire terminating feature (24) have a crimp connection (30).

6. A thermally protected bobbin (32) comprising:

a magnet wire (36) having opposed ends wound onto a spindle (34), the spindle (34) having a splice opening (40, 42, 44, 46) for receiving the magnet wire (36) between the opposed ends; and

a thermal protector (20) comprising a body (22) integrally connected to a magnet wire terminating feature (24);

wherein each magnet wire terminating feature (24) is received by a corresponding splice opening (40, 42, 44, 46), each magnet wire terminating feature (24) forming a connection with the magnet wire (36).

7. The thermally protected bobbin (32) of claim 6, wherein the body (22) and the magnet wire terminating feature (24) are of unitary construction.

8. The thermally protected bobbin (32) of claim 6, wherein the splice opening (40, 42, 44, 46), having a post (48) for receiving the magnet wire (36) subsequent to the magnet wire (36) extending through the splice opening, the post (48) being removed during or subsequent to the magnet wire terminating feature (24) forming a connection with the magnet wire (36).

9. The thermally protected bobbin (32) of claim 8, wherein a magnet wire segment extending between each magnet wire terminating feature (24) is removed from the spindle (34).
