Claims

1. Loading device (12) suitable for use in an apparatus (10) for the sequestration of carbon dioxide C02 in containers (30), comprising a chamber (123), pressurization means (16), filling means (126) and sealing means (127), wherein:

- the loading device (12) is immersed, during use, in an external low-pressure environment;

- the chamber (123) is designed to be opened towards the external low-pressure environment in order to receive at its inlet at least one empty container (30);

- the chamber (123) is designed to be hermetically sealed off from the external low-pressure environment;

- the pressurization means (16) are designed to increase the pressure inside the chamber (123) until it reaches a predefined high-pressure level or working pressure;

- the chamber (123) is designed to withstand the difference between the external low pressure and the working pressure which is established inside it;

- the filling means (126) are designed to fill the container with C02;

- the sealing means (127) are designed to close hermetically the container (30) full of C02; and

- the chamber (123) is designed to be opened towards an external environment (14) at the working pressure in order to release the full container (30) at its outlet.

2. Loading device (12) according to Claim 1, further comprising a loading valve (122) which, in the open configuration, allows at least one container (30) to pass inside the chamber (123) and, in the closed configuration, hermetically seals off the chamber (123) from the low-pressure external environment.

Loading device (12) according to Claim 1 or 2, further comprising an unloading valve (125) which, in the closed configuration, hermetically seals off the chamber (123) from the external environment (14) at the working pressure and which, in the open configuration, allows at least one container (30) to pass outside the chamber (123).

4. Apparatus (10) for the sequestration of carbon dioxide C02 in containers (30), comprising a loading device (12) in accordance with any one of Claims 1 to 3 and a tube (14) designed to receive the container (30) full of C02 output from the chamber (123) of the loading device (12) and convey it into the sea to a depth at which there is the working pressure.

5. Plant (100) for the sequestration of carbon dioxide C02 in containers (30), comprising:

- a logistics base (200);

- supply means suitable for transporting the C02 to the logistics base (200); and

- an apparatus (10) according to Claim 4.

6. Plant (100) according to Claim 5, wherein:

- the logistics base comprises an off-shore platform (20); and

- the supply means are designed to transport the C02 from the coast to the offshore platform (20).

7. Plant (100) according to Claim 5 or 6, further comprising a plurality of glass and/or ceramic containers (30), the containers (30) being designed such that:

- they may be received inside the chamber (123);

- they may be filled with C02 by the filling means (126);

- when full, they may be hermetically closed by the sealing means (127); and

- when they are full and hermetically closed, they may be released into an external environment (14).

8. Plant (100) according to any one of Claims 5 to 7, wherein the chamber (123) of the loading device (12) is designed to receive said rigid containers (30).

9. Method for the sequestration of carbon dioxide C02 in containers (30), comprising the steps of:

- providing a loading device (12) according to any one of Claims 1 to 3;

- loading a container (30) from a low-pressure external environment into the chamber (123) of the loading device (12);

- hermetically closing off the chamber (123) from the external low-pressure environment;

- increasing the pressure inside the chamber (123) until it reaches a predefined high-pressure level or working pressure;

- filling the container (30) with C02;

- hermetically closing the container (30) full of C02;

- opening up the chamber (123) to an external environment (14) at the design pressure;

- releasing at its outlet the full container (3) into the external environment (14) at the design pressure.
