CLAIMS
What is claimed is:
1. An article comprising:
a storage medium, said storage medium having associated therewith:
a media content portion; and
a plurality of DRM envelopes associated with distinct digital rights
management (DRM) formats,
wherein said plurality of DRM envelopes enable access to said media content according to any one of said plurality of DRM formats through access to an associated one of said DRM envelopes.

2. The article of claim 1, wherein said media content portion is encrypted according to a content access key, said content access key being accessible in response to accessing one of said DRM envelopes.

3. The article of claim 2, wherein said DRM envelopes comprise said content access key encrypted according to keys associated with said DRM envelopes.

4. The article of claim 3, wherein a key associated with at least one of said DRM envelopes is derived, at least in part, from said media content portion.

5. The article of claim 1, wherein said storage medium comprises a removable storage device.

6. The article of claim 1, wherein said storage medium comprises a single storage device.

7. The article of claim 1 , wherein media content portion is stored on a portion of memory which is distinct from said DRM envelope portion.

8. The article of claim 1, wherein said storage medium further comprises metadata stored thereon identifying locations of said DRM envelopes on said storage medium.

9. The article of claim 1 , wherein said storage medium further comprises metadata stored thereon identifying a location of said media content on said storage medium.

10. A method comprising:
selecting a digital rights management (DRM) format from among a plurality of DRM formats associated with a plurality of DRM envelopes; and
accessing at least one of said plurality of DRM envelopes associated with said selected DRM format to obtain a content access key for use in decrypting a media content portion.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein said selecting said DRM format comprises receiving a request to access said media content, said request comprising information identifying said DRM format.

12. The method of claim 10, and further comprising accessing a
predetermined portion of said storage medium comprising metadata associated with said selected DRM format, and wherein said accessing said DRM envelope associated with said selected DRM format further comprises locating said DRM envelope associated with said selected DRM format on said storage medium based, at least in part, on said metadata.

13. The method of claim 10, and further comprising decrypting at least a portion of said accessed DRM envelope to obtain said content access key.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein said decrypting at least a portion of said accessed DRM envelope further comprises decrypting said portion of said accessed DRM envelope according to a key associated with said selected DRM format.

15. The method of claim 10, and further comprising decrypting said media content portion according to said content access key to obtain access to said media content portion.

16. The method of claim 15, and further comprising rendering a presentation to a user based, at least in part, on said decrypted media content portion.

17. An article comprising:
a storage medium comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon which, when executed, are adapted to cause a computing platform to:
select at least one DRM format from among a plurality of DRM formats associated with a plurality of DRM envelopes associated with a memory device; and
access one of said plurality of DRM envelopes associated with said
selected DRM format to obtain a content access key for use in decrypting a media content portion associated with said memory device.

18. The article of claim 17, wherein said instructions, when executed, are further adapted to cause said computing platform to select said DRM format in response to a request to access said media content, said request comprising information identifying said DRM format.

19. The article of claim 17, wherein said instructions, when executed, are further adapted to cause said computing platform to:
access a predetermined portion of said memory device comprising metadata associated with said selected DRM format; and locate said DRM envelope associated with said selected DRM format on said memory device based, at least in part, on said metadata.

20. The article of claim 17, wherein said instructions, when executed, are further adapted to cause said computing platform to decrypt at least a portion of said accessed DRM envelope to obtain said content access key.

21. The article of claim 20, wherein said instructions, when executed, are further adapted to cause said computing platform to decrypt said portion of said accessed DRM envelope according to a key associated with said selected DRM format.

22. The article of claim 17, wherein said instructions, when executed, are further adapted to decrypt said media content portion according to said content access key to obtain access to said media content portion.

23. The article of claim 22, wherein said instructions, when executed, are further adapted to render a presentation to a user based, at least in part, on said decrypted media content portion.

24. An apparatus comprising:
one or more output devices comprising a display; and
a computing platform, said computing platform being adapted to: select a DRM format from among a plurality of DRM formats associated with a plurality of DRM envelopes associated with a storage medium;
access at least one of said plurality of DRM envelopes associated with said selected DRM format to obtain a content access key;
decrypt said media content portion according to said content access key to obtain access to a media content portion associated with said storage medium; and render a presentation through said display based, at least in part, on said decrypted media content portion.

25. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein said computing platform is further adapted select said DRM format in response to a request to access said media content, said request comprising information identifying said DRM format.

26. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein said computing platform is further adapted to:
access a predetermined portion of said storage medium comprising metadata associated with said selected DRM format; and
locate said DRM envelope associated with said selected DRM format on said storage medium based, at least in part, on said metadata.

27. The apparatus of claim 24, wherein said computing platform is further adapted to decrypt at least a portion of said accessed DRM envelope to obtain said content access key.

28. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein said computing platform is further adapted to decrypt said portion of said accessed DRM envelope according to a key associated with said selected DRM format.

29. A method comprising:
storing a media content portion on a storage medium; and
storing a plurality of digital rights management (DRM) envelopes on said storage medium with said media content portion, said plurality of DRM envelopes being associated with a plurality of distinct DRM formats,
wherein media content portion is accessible by access to one of said DRM envelopes.

30. The method of claim 29, and further comprising encrypting said media content portion on said storage medium according to a content access key.

31. The method of claim 30, wherein said content access key is accessible by decrypting one of said DRM envelopes.

32. The method of claim 29, and further comprising storing metadata on said storage medium identifying locations of said DRM envelopes on said storage medium.

33. The method of claim 32, wherein said metadata is stored on a
predetermined portion of said storage medium.

34. The method of claim 32, wherein said metadata identifies said locations of said DRM envelopes as files stored on said storage medium.

35. The method of claim 32, wherein said metadata identifies locations of said DRM envelopes using tags and/or markers.

36. A method comprising:
accessing a digital rights management (DRM) envelope in an associated storage medium to obtain a primary content access key and a secondary content access key, said DRM envelope being associated with a DRM format;
decrypting a first portion of media content in said storage medium according to said primary content access key; and
decrypting a second portion of said media content according to said secondary content access key to impart a marking in said decrypted first portion of said media content identifying said DRM format.

37. The method of claim 36, wherein said marking comprises an invisible modification to said decrypted first portion of said media content.

38. The method of claim 37, wherein said invisible modification comprises placement of an invisible watermark in said decrypted first portion of said media content.

39. The method of claim 36, wherein said marking comprises a visible symbol in a portion of a rendered presentation of said decrypted first portion of said media content.

40. The method of claim 36, and further comprising selecting said DRM format from a among a plurality of DRM formats, and wherein said storage medium comprises a plurality of DRM envelopes associated with said DRM formats stored on said storage medium.

41. An article comprising:
a storage medium, said storage medium having associated therewith:
a media content portion; and
at least one digital rights management (DRM) envelope associated with a DRM format, said DRM envelope comprising a primary content access key for decrypting a first portion of said media content and a secondary content access key for decrypting a second portion of said media content,
wherein said decrypted second portion of said media content is adaptable to impart a marking to said decrypted first portion identifying said DRM format.

42. The article of claim 41 , wherein said storage medium comprises a plurality of DRM envelopes stored thereon associated with a plurality of DRM formats, said plurality of DRM envelopes comprising said primary content access key and a secondary content access key from among a plurality of secondary content access keys associated with said DRM formats.

43. The article of claim 41, wherein said marking comprises an invisible modification to said decrypted first portion of said media content.

44. The article of claim 43, wherein said invisible modification comprises placement of an invisible watermark in said decrypted first portion of said media content.

45. The article of claim 41, wherein said marking comprises visible symbol in a portion of a rendered presentation of said decrypted first portion of said media content.

46. An article comprising:
a storage medium, said storage medium comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon which, when executed, are adapted to cause a computing platform to:
access a digital rights management (DRM) envelope in an associated
storage medium to obtain a primary content access key and a secondary content access key, said DRM envelope being associated with a DRM format;
decrypt a first portion of media content in said storage medium according to said primary content access key; and decrypt a second portion of said media content according to said
secondary content access key to impart a marking in said decrypted first portion identifying said DRM format.

47. The article of claim 46, wherein said marking comprises an invisible modification to said decrypted first portion of said media content.

48. The article of claim 47, wherein said invisible modification comprises placement of an invisible watermark in said decrypted first portion of said media content.

49. The article of claim 47, wherein said marking comprises a visible symbol in a portion of a rendered presentation of said decrypted first portion.

50. The article of claim 46, and further comprising selecting said DRM format from a among a plurality of DRM formats, and wherein said storage medium comprises a plurality of DRM envelopes associated with said DRM formats stored on said storage medium.

51. A method comprising :
presenting a product serial number to obtain an encryption key associated with a digital rights management (DRM) format;
decrypting a DRM envelope stored on a memory according to said encryption key to obtain a content access key; and decrypting said media content according to said content access key.

52. The method of claim 51 , wherein said product serial number is associated with a device that is adapted to render a presentation based, at least in part, on said decrypted media content.

53. The method of claim 51 , wherein said product serial number is associated with an application that is adapted to render a presentation based, at least in part, on said decrypted media content.

54. The method of claim 51 , wherein said memory comprises a removable memory device, and wherein said product serial number is associated with said removable memory device.

55. The method of claim 51 , wherein said product serial number is associated with a product that is adapted to access said media content according to said DRM format.

56. An article comprising:
a storage medium, said storage medium comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon which, when executed, are adapted to cause a computing platform to:
associate a product serial number with a digital rights management (DRM) format; and provide an encryption key for accessing a DRM envelope stored on a memory, said DRM envelope comprising a content access key for decrypting media content stored on said memory.

57. The article of claim 56, wherein said machine-readable instructions, when executed, are further adapted to cause said computing platform to obtain said serial number from said memory.

58. The article of claim 56, wherein said machine-readable instructions, when executed, are further adapted to:
decrypt said DRM envelope according to said encryption key to obtain said content access key; and
decrypt said media content according to said content access key.
