Systems and methods for generating storage system commands are presented. Logical volumes comprise one or more storage areas. The methods include providing a map of the logical volume from information relating to the types of the storage areas composing the volume. Storage commands referencing the logical volume map are converted to storage area commands by command handlers associated with the type of the storage areas in the logical volume. The storage system comprises clients that access the storage areas by using a command stacks associated with the logical volumes.

La présente invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés permettant de générer des commandes de système de stockage. Les volumes logiques se composent d'une ou de plusieurs zones de stockage. Les procédés consistent à fournir une carte du volume logique à partir d'informations portant sur les types de zones de stockage composant le volume. Les commandes de stockage référençant la carte du volume logique sont converties en commandes de zones de stockage à l'aide d'un gestionnaire de commandes associé au type de zones de stockage présentes dans le volume logique. Le système de stockage possède des clients qui ont accès aux zones de stockage à l'aide d'une pile de commande associée aux volumes logiques.
