Claims
[1] 1. A method of copying encrypted data stored in a first storage medium to a
second storage medium the method comprising:
recording the encrypted data stored in the first storage medium on the second
storage medium;
reproducing a first content key, which is used to encrypt the encrypted data,
using a first drive into which the first storage medium is loaded;
encrypting the first content key into an encrypted first content key;
sending the encrypted first content key to a second drive into which the second storage medium is loaded; and
recording the encrypted first content key on the second storage medium.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein encrypting the first content key is performed using a public key infrastructure.
3. The method of claim 2, wherein encrypting the first content key comprises:
encrypting the first content key using a public key of the second drive, and
wherein sending the encrypted first content key to the second drive comprises: sending the encrypted first content key to the second drive; and
decrypting the encrypted first content key using a private key of the second
drive, the private key conesponding to the public key of the second drive.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein encrypting the first content key comprises:
reproducing a second content key based on disc information stored in the second storage medium; and
encrypting the first content key using the second content key.
5. The method of claim 1, farther comprising recording a copy flag in a predetermined section of the second storage medium the copy flag indicating that
the encrypted data is not encrypted using the second content key extracted from disc information stored in the second storage medium and is copied on the
second storage medium from the first storage medium.
6. The method of claim 5, wherein the predetermined section is a lead-in section.
7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first content key is reproduced based on
disc information stored in the first storage medium.
8. The method of claim 7, wherein the first content key is reproduced based on
the disc information stored in the first storage medium and drive information
stored in the first drive.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the disc information comprises at least one of a disc identifier, a renewal key block, a media key, and a random number.
10. The method of claim 7, wherein the drive information comprises at least one of a device identifier, a device key set, a device key, and a random number.

11. The method of claim 4, wherein the second content key is reproduced using the disc information stored in the second storage medium.
12. The method of claim 4, wherein the second content key is reproduced using the disc information stored in the second storage medium and drive information stored in the second drive.
13. The method of claim 11, wherein the disc information comprises at least one of a disc identifier, a renewal key block, a media key, and a random number.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein the drive information comprises at least one of a device identifier, a device key set, a device key, and a random number.

15. A method of reproducing data, which is encrypted using an encrypted first content key, from a first storage medium the method comprising:
reproducing a second content key using disc information stored in the first storage medium;
decrypting the encrypted first content key using the second content key to generate a decrypted first content key; and
decrypting the encrypted data using the decrypted first content key,
wherein the first content key is encrypted using the second content key, the second content key can be reproduced using the disc information stored in the first storage medium and the first content key is stored in the first storage medium.
16. The method of claim 15, wherein the first storage medium stores a copy flag that indicates the encrypted data is copied from a second storage medium and the method farther comprising checking the copy flag.
17. The method of claim 16, wherein when the copy flag indicates that the first storage medium is not copied from a second storage medium farther comprising decrypting the encrypted data using the second content key.
18. The method of claim 15, wherein the second content key is reproduced using disc information stored in the first storage medium.
19. The method of claim 18, wherein the second content key is reproduced using the disc information stored in the first storage medium and drive information stored in a drive that reproduces data from the first storage medium.

20. The method of claim 18, wherein the disc information comprises at least one of a disc identifier, a renewal key block, a media key, and a random number.

21. The method of claim 18, wherein the drive information comprises at least one of a device identifier, a device key set, a device key, and a random number.

22. A method of recording audio/video (AV) data, which is encrypted using a first encrypting key, on a storage medium the method comprising:
reproducing a second encrypting key using information regarding the storage medium;
encrypting the first encrypting key using the second encrypting key to generate an encrypted first encrypting key; and
recording the encrypted first encrypting key and the AV data, which is encrypted using the first encrypting key, on the storage medium.
23. The method of claim 22, wherein the first encrypting key is key information for encrypting the AV data and the second encrypting key is key information for encrypting the first encrypting key.
24. The method of claim 22, wherein the storage medium comprises one of a compact disc, a digital versatile disc, and a blue-ray disc on which AV data can be recorded at least once.
25. The method of claim 22, wherein the information regarding the storage medium comprises at least one of a renewal key block, a recording medium key, a recording random number, and a recording medium identifier, and
the second encrypting key is reproduced using the at least one of the renewal key block, the recording medium key, the recording random number, and the recording medium identifier.
26. A method of reproducing audio/video (AV) data encrypted using a first encrypting key and stored in a storage medium the method comprising:
generating a second encrypting key using information regarding the storage medium;
decrypting the first encrypting key using the second encrypting key to generate the decrypted first encrypting key; and
decrypting the AV data using the decrypted first encrypting key.
27. The method of claim 26, wherein the first encrypting key is key information for decrypting the AV data, and the second encrypting key is key information for decrypting the first encrypting key.
28. The method of claim 26, wherein the storage medium comprises one of a compact disc, a digital versatile disc, and a blue-ray disc on which AV data can be recorded at least once.
29. The method of claim 26, wherein the information regarding the storage medium comprises at least one of a renewal key block, a recording medium key, a recording random number, and a recording medium identifier, and
the second encrypting key is reproduced using the at least one of the renewal key block, the recording medium key, the recording random number, and the recording medium identifier.
30. A method of generating an encrypting key in a storage medium that stores audio/video (AV) data and an apparatus that records the AV data on or reproduces the AV data from the storage medium the method comprising:
reading a renewal key block, a disc key that is encrypted using a media key, and a disc identifier from the storage medium;
reproducing the media key using the renewal key block;
decrypting the disc key using the media key to generate a decrypted disc key; generating a recording random number; and
generating the encrypting key from at least one of the decrypted disc key, the recording random number, and the disc identifier read from the storage medium.
