A method of determining a property of a desired region in an object includes transmitting first and second energy beams from first and second sources into the object such that the beams intersect at the desired region to induce vibration of the desired region, transmitting energy from a third source into the desired region, receiving signals from the desired region due to the energy from the third source, and analyzing at least one of amplitude, phase and frequency of the vibration of the desired region indicated by the received signals to determine the property of the desired region.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour déterminer une propriété d'une région désirée dans un objet, qui consiste à transmettre un premier et un deuxième faisceau d'énergie depuis une première et une deuxième sources jusqu'à l'objet, de manière à produire l'intersection des faisceaux dans la région désirée et à produire une vibration dans la région désirée, à transmettre l'énergie d'une troisième source jusqu'à la région désirée, à recevoir les signaux provenant de la région désirée grâce à l'énergie provenant de la troisième source, et à analyser au moins un des éléments suivants: amplitude, phase et fréquence de la vibration de la région désirée indiquée par les signaux reçus afin de déterminer la propriété de la région désirée.
