The present invention describes an improved building material composition, useful for example as a fire door core and to improved methods of making this composition. The building material of the present invention is prepared from an aqueous mixture of expanded perlite and a fast setting, cementitious composition consisting essentially of a hydraulic cement having (1) a Portland cement and (2) a calcium aluminate cement, which composition can be molded and shaped into a fire door core.

L'invention concerne une composition de matériau de construction améliorée, utile par exemple pour constituer l'âme d'une porte coupe-feu, et des procédés améliorés relatifs à l'élaboration de cette composition. Ledit matériau est élaboré à partir d'un mélange aqueux de perlite expansée et de composition à base de ciment à prise rapide, qui comprend essentiellement un ciment hydraulique à (1) ciment de Portland et (2) ciment à l'aluminate de calcium, cette composition pouvant être moulée en âme de porte coupe-feu.
