CLAIMS

1. A method for obtaining products of enhanced economic value from grape marc consisting largely of grape seeds and grape skins including the steps of
subjecting the marc to drying where the drying temperatures are selected so as to not char or burn the grape skins within the marc,
separating the resultant dryer marc into a first component consisting almost entirely of grape seeds alone and a second component consisting largely of grape skins,
further processing said first component to obtain a first product of enhanced economic value,
further processing said second component to obtain a second product of enhanced economic value.

2. A method as in claim 1 where the temperature of the seeds and skins is kept below 100C.

3. A method as in claim 1 where the temperature of the seeds and skins is kept below 90C.

4. A method as in any one of the preceding claims wherein the drying step includes exposing wet marc to air at high temperatures, with the
temperature of the air exposed to the marc reducing as the marc becomes dryer.

5. A method as in any of the preceding claims wherein the drying is to an
extent that there is 12% or less of water remaining by volume in the
resultant dryer marc.

6. A method as in any of the preceding claims wherein the step of separating the dryer marc includes selective aerodynamic separation.

7. A method as in any one of the preceding claims wherein the processing of the second component includes shredding in a hammer-mill.

8. A method as in any one of the preceding claims wherein the second product is stock feed.

9. A method as in any one of the preceding claims wherein the processing of the first component includes a further drying process.

10. A method as in claim 9 wherein the further drying process results in grape seeds having a moisture content of not more than 12% by volume.

11. A method as in any one of the previous claims wherein the processing of the first component includes the step of processing said component to yield grape seed oil.

12. A method as in claim 11 wherein the processing step is cold pressing.

13. A method as in any one of the preceding claims wherein the first product is grape seed oil.

14. A method as in any one of the preceding claims wherein the first product is cold pressed grape seed oil.

15. An arrangement for obtaining products of enhanced economic value from grape marc including
a primary drier adapted to operate with drying temperatures selected so as to not char or burn the grape skins within the marc,
a seed separator adapted to separate the resultant dryer marc into a first component consisting almost entirely of grape seeds alone and a second component consisting largely of grape skins,
means to increase the overall density of the second component prior to use or storage,
means to further process the first component to yield grape seed oil.

16. An arrangement as in claim 15 where the temperature of the seeds and skins is kept below 100C.

17. An arrangement as in claim 15 where the temperature of the seeds and skins is kept below 90C.

18. An arrangement as in any one of claims 15-17 wherein the drying is to an extent that there is 12% or less of water remaining by volume in the resultant dryer marc.

19. An arrangement as in any one of the preceding claims 15-18 wherein the means to increase density of the second component includes a hammer- mill.

20. An arrangement as in any one of the preceding claims 15-19 wherein the means to further process the first component includes a secondary drying apparatus.

21.An arrangement as in claim 20 wherein the further drying process results in grape seeds having a moisture content of not more than 12% by volume.

22. A method as in any one of the preceding claims wherein the first product is cold pressed grape seed oil.

23. Cold pressed grape seed oil produced by the method of any one of claims 1-14.

24. Grape marc suitable for stock feed produced by the method of any one of claims 1-14.

25. An arrangement for obtaining products of enhanced economic value from grape marc substantially as described in the specification with reference to and as illustrated by any one or more of the accompanying drawings.

26. A method for obtaining products of enhanced economic value from grape marc substantially as described in the specification with reference to and as illustrated by any one or more of the accompanying drawings.
