A pneumatic tire comprising a radial carcass (5) consisting of at least one carcass ply constituted by a main body (3a) and a turnup (3b), a reinforcing member (7) consisting of at least two reinforcing layers, wherein of the reinforcing layers (6a, 6b, 6c) constituting the reinforcing member (7), at least two reinforcing layers (6a, 6b) are a cross reinforcing layer (21) that covers at least the turnup of the radial carcass (5) and in which their cords cross each other, and the outer ends (14a, 14b) of the reinforcing layers (6a, 6b) constituting the cross reinforcing layer (21) that are positioned on the tire widthwise outer sides of the turnup (3b) of the radial carcass (5) are disposed more radially outwardly of the tire than the outer end (13) of the turnup (3b) of the radial carcass (5), the cords constituting the reinforcing layers (6a, 6b, 6c) being cords having predetermined physical properties, and the cross angle (&agr;), including a tire peripheral direction (15), of the cords of the adjoining reinforcing layers (6a, 6b) is greater than 50° and less than 130°.

L'invention concerne un pneumatique comprenant une carcasse (5) radiale qui comporte au moins un pli se composant d'un corps principal (3a) et d'un recouvrement (3b), et un élément (7) de renfort constitué d'au moins deux couches ; au moins deux (6a, 6b) des couches (6a, 6b, 6c) constituant l'élément de renfort forment une couche (21) de renfort croisée qui couvre au moins le recouvrement de la carcasse (5) radiale, et dans laquelle les câblés se croisent. Les extrémités (14a, 14b) extérieures des couches de renfort (6a, 6b) constituant la couche (21) de renfort croisée, qui se situent, dans le sens de la largeur du pneu, sur les côtés extérieurs du recouvrement (3b) de la carcasse (5) radiale, sont placées plus radialement vers l'extérieur du pneu que l'extrémité (13) extérieure du recouvrement (3b) ; les câblés constituant les couches (6a, 6b, 6c) de renfort sont des câblés présentant des propriétés physiques prédéterminées, et l'angle de croisement ($g(a)), incluant la direction (15) périphérique du pneu, des câblés des couches (6a, 6b) de renfort adjacentes est supérieur à 50° et inférieur à 130°.
