A small and lightweight laser therapy apparatus using a solid-state laser is provided which is of easy maintenance and suited especially to treatment for the cornea. A laser therapy apparatus comprises a laser beam generator (11) including a solid-state laser (12) for producing a predetermined laser beam; a laser device (10) including a fiber optic amplifier (20) for amplifying a laser beam produced by the laser beam generator, and a wavelength converter (40) for converting the amplified laser beam to a therapeutic beam of about 193-nm wavelength using a nonlinear optics crystal; and an optical system (60) for directing the therapeutic laser beam to the corneal surface.

L'invention porte sur un laser solide à usage thérapeutique petit et léger, particulièrement adapté au traitement de la cornée, et sur un appareil thérapeutique comportant: un générateur (11) à laser solide (12) de faisceau laser prédéterminé, un amplificateur à fibre optique (10) dudit faisceau, un convertisseur (40) de longueurs d'onde à cristal d'optique non linéaire convertissant le faisceaux amplifié en faisceau thérapeutique d'environ 193 nm de longueur d'onde, et un système optique dirigeant le faisceau ainsi obtenu sur la surface de la cornée.
