What is claimed is:
1. A home network system, comprising:
a dedicated electronic book viewer;
a communications network connectable to the electronic book viewer; and one or more digital devices coupled to the communications network, a digital device including digital data for display on the electronic book viewer.
2. The system of claim 1, further comprising a displayunit coupled to the communications network.
3. The system of claim 2, wherein the display unit is a television.
4. The system of claim 2, wherein the display unit is a personal computer.
5. The system of claim 2, wherein the display unit is a personal data device.
6. The system of claim 2, wherein the display unit is a printer.
7. The system of claim 2, wherein the display unit is a wireless telephone.
8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the communications network is a wired communications network.
9. The system of claim 8, wherein the wired communications network is one of a telephone network, a local area network, an electrical power supply network, and a cable television network.
10. The system of claim 1, wherein the communications network is a wireless communications network.
11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more digital devices include a home appliance, a computer, a security system, a lighting control system, a HVAC system, and a surveillance system.
12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the communications network is a hub and star network, 13. The system of claim 1, wherein the communications network is a hub-less network.
14. An electronic book home network, comprising: a dedicated electronic book viewer;
a communications network capable of interfacing with the electronic book viewer;
one or more digital devices capable of interfacing with the communications network, a digital device, comprising:
a network connector coupling the digital device to the communications network, and
digital data displayable on the electronic book viewer.
15. The electronic book home network of claim 14, wherein the one or more digital devices include a home appliance, a personal computer, a television, a security system, a lighting control system, a HVAC system, and a surveillance system.
16. The electronic book home network of claim 14, further comprising a home network hierarchical menu system, the hierarchical menu system, comprising:
an introductory menu;
a main menu; and
a home network submenu system, the home network submenu system including a submenu for each ofthe one or more digital devices, and wherein a digital device submenu, comprises:
a status submenu,
a technical submenu,
a maintenance submenu, and
a setup submenu.
17. The electronic book home network of claim 16, wherein the menu system is displayable on the electronic book viewer, and wherein selection of a digital device submenu couples the digital device to the communications network.

18. The electronic book home network of claim 17, wherein when the digital device is coupled to the communications network, digital data may be shared between the digital device and the electronic book viewer.
19. The electronic book home network of claim 18, wherein the shared digital data comprises links to a node external to the electronic book home network.
20. The electronic book home network of claim 19, wherein a link provides aone-click order for a component of the digital device.
21. The electronic book home network of claim 14, wherein the communications network is a wired communications network.
22. The electronic book home network of claim 21 , wherein the wired communications network is one of a telephone network, a local area network, an electrical power supply network, and a cable television network.
23. The electronic book home network of claim 14, wherein the communications network is a wireless communications network.
24. The electronic book home network of claim 14, wherein the communications network is a hub and star network,
25. The electronic book home network of claim 14, wherein the communications network is a hub-less network.
26. The electronic book home network of claim 14, wherein the digital device includes a connector, the connector providing a multiplexing/demultiplexing function to provide the digital data for display.
27. The electronic book home network of claim 14, wherein the electronic book viewer receives status information of selected digital devices coupled to the communications network, and makes the status available for display on the electronic book viewer.
28. The electronic book home network of claim 27, wherein the electronic book viewer comprises:
a processor; and a memory, wherein the processor processes the status information ofthe selected digital devices and compares the processed status information to make inferences about auser ofthe electronic book home network, and wherein the processed status information is stored in the memory and updated when the status information ofthe selected digital devices changes. 29. The electronic book home network of claim 14, further comprising a second display device coupled to the communications network, the second display device capable of displaying the digital data.
30. The electronic book home network of claim 29, wherein the second display device is a second electronic book viewer.
31. The electronic bookhome network of claim 29, wherein the second display device is one of a television, a personal computer, a printer, a personal data device and a wireless telephone.
32. The electronic book home network of claim 14, wherein the electronic book viewer comprises a telephone module operable to communicate between the electronic book viewer and devices coupled to a telephone network.
33. The electronic book home network of claim 14, further comprising an external device coupled to the electronic book home network, wherein the external device remotely accesses the electronic book viewer and the one or more digital devices to download information related to one or more of the one or more digital devices.
34. A method for providing an electronic book home network, comprising:
providing a dedicated electronic book viewer coupled to the home network;
coupling one or more digital devices to the home network; and
transferring digital data from the one or more digital devices to the electronic book viewer.
35. The method of claim 34, wherein the one or more digital devices include a home appliance, a personal computer, a television, a security system, a lighting control system, a HVAC system, and a surveillance system.

36. The method of claim 34, further comprising providing a home network hierarchical menu system, the hierarchical menu system, comprising:
an introductory menu;
a main menu; and
a home network submenu system, the home network submenu system including a submenu for each ofthe one or more digital devices, and wherein a digital device submenu, comprises:
a status submenu,
a technical submenu,
a maintenance submenu, and
a setup submenu.
37. The method of claim 36, wherein the menu system is displayable on the electronic book viewer, and wherein selection of a digital device submenu couples a digital device to the communications network.
38. The method of claim 37, wherein when the digital device is coupled to the communications network, digital data may be shared between the digital device and the electronic book viewer.
39. The method of claim 38 , wherein the shared digital data comprises links to a node external to the electronic book home network.
40. The method of claim 39, wherein a link provides a one-click order for a component of the digital device.
41. The method of claim 39, wherein the link provides external access to the digital device.

42. The method of claim 34, wherein the communications network is a wired communications network.
43. The method of claim 42, wherein the wired communications network is one of a telephone network, a local area network, an electrical power supply network, and a cable television network.

44. The method of claim 34, wherein the communications network is a wireless communications network.
45. The method of claim 34, wherein the communications network is a hub and star network,
46. The method of claim 34, wherein the communications network is ahub-less network.

47. The method of claim 34, wherein the digital device includes a connector, the connector providing a multiplexing/demultiplexing function to provide the digital data for display.
48. The method of claim 34, wherein the electronic book receives status information of selected digital devices coupled to the communications network, and makes the status available for display on the electronic book viewer.
49. The method of claim 34, further comprising providing an alternative device for displaying content available on the electronic book home network, the alternative device comprising one or more of a television, a computer, a personal data device and a printer.
50. The method of claim 34, further comprising receiving and placing telephone call using the electronic book viewer and the electronic book home network.
51. The method of claim 34, further comprising transmitting video data over the electronic book home network.
52. The method of claim 34, wherein the transferring of digital data from the one or more digital devices to the electronic book viewers comprises:
sending a request for data to one or more of the one or more digital devices;
receiving responses from one or more of the digital devices; and
storing the responses.
