According to the present invention, an organized assembly of functional molecules with specific interfacial functionality (functional group(s)) is attached to available surfaces including within mesopores of a mesoporous material. The method of the present invention avoids the standard base soak that would digest the walls between the mesopores by boiling the mesoporous material in water for surface preparation then removing all but one or two layers of water molecules on the internal surface of a pore. Suitable functional molecule precursor is then applied to permeate the hydrated pores and the precursor then undergoes condensation to form the functional molecules on the interior surfaces(s) of the pore(s).

Selon la présente invention, un assemblage organisé de molécules fonctionnelles à fonctionnalité interfaciale spécifique (groupe(s) fonctionnel(s)) est fixé à des surfaces disponibles, y compris à l'intérieur des mésopores d'un matériau mésoporeux. Le procédé décrit permet d'éviter l'imprégnation de base normale qui entraînerait la digestion des parois entre les mésopores, et consiste à faire bouillir le matériau mésoporeux dans de l'eau en vue de la préparation de la surface, puis à ôter toutes les couches, à l'exception d'une ou deux, de molécules d'eau sur la surface interne d'un pore. Un précurseur moléculaire fonctionnel approprié est ensuite appliqué pour imprégner les pores hydratés, et ce précurseur subit ensuite une condensation pour former les molécules fonctionnelles sur la ou les surface(s) intérieure(s) du ou des pore(s).
