C L A I M S

1. A UV curable composition comprising a
monohydroxylated epoxidized polydiene polymer and a photomitiator selected from the group consisting of diarylhalide salts of the general formula (I):


wherein X is a complex metal halide anion or a complex halide anion of a strong protonic acid;


wherein R is hydrogen, aryl, alkyl or an alkyl halide; Z is iodine, bromine or chlorine; and
n is an integer of at least 1.
2. UV curable composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein formula (I) Z is iodine.
3. UV curable composition as claimed claim 1 or 2, wherein formula (I) Y is
OH

-CH2-C- H
4. UV curable composition as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein formula (I) X is SbFg-.

5. UV curable composition as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein formula (I) n is an integer m the range from 5 to 20.
6. UV curable composition as claimed in any one of the preceding claims wherein the monohydroxylated
epoxidized polydiene polymer is comprised of at least two polymerised ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon monomers, wherein at least one is a diene monomer which yields unsaturation suitable for epoxidation, and wherein the polymer contains from 0.1 to 7.0
milliequivalents of epoxy per gram of polymer.
7. UV curable composition as claimed in claim 6, wherein the monohydroxylated epoxidized polymer has the formula

(H0)x-A-Sz-B- (OH) y or (HO) X-A-B-S- (OH) y

wherein A and B are polymer blocks which may be homopolymer blocks of conjugated diolefin monomers, copolymer blocks of conjugated diolefin monomers or copolymer blocks of conjugated diene monomers and alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon monomers, S is a alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon block, x or y is 1, the other being 0, and z is 0 or 1.
8. UV curable composition as claimed any one of the preceding claims, for use as a sealant or adhesive composition, further comprising a tackifymg res which is compatible with the photomitiator.
9. UV curable composition as claimed in claim 8, further comprising a polydiene mono-ol.
10. UV curable composition as claimed in any one of the preceding claims 1 to 7, for use as a coating
composition further comprising a filler, a pigment and/or a stabilizer.
11. Process for preparing a UV curable composition as claimed m any one of the preceding claims which comprises mixing the photoinitiator of formula (I), the monohydroxylated epoxidized polydiene polymer, and any other ingredients in the absence of a non-aqueous solvent .
12. UV-cured compositions obtained from a UV curable composition as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 10 by curing in the presence of a UV source.
13. Articles containing the UV-cured composition of claim 12.
