CLAIMS

1. An artificial vagina intended for collecting semen to be used in animal breeding, the artificial vagina (13)
comprising at least a tubular interior part (25) consisting of resilient rubber or equivalent material, characterized in that the artificial vagina (13) further comprises a heatable jacket tube (18), to the ends of which is fastened the tubular interior part (25) coming inside it, and a connection (60) for introducing air between the jacket tube (18) and the interior part (25) to form an air layer (41), and for adjusting the thickness of this air layer for heating and using the artificial vagina (13).

2. An artificial vagina (13) as claimed in claim 1,
characterized in that there is a padded ring (55)
encircling the outward-directed end of the jacket tube (18), and at the other, inward-remaining end of the jacket tube, there is a hollow stimulation ring (56) made of rubber or other resilient material inside the jacket tube (18), the amount of air in the interior air duct (41') of the stimulation ring being adjustable through the
connection (60'), for heating and using the artificial vagina, and that the interior part (25) passes around the padded ring (55) and stimulation ring (56) over the ends of the jacket tube (18) for fastening.

3. An artificial vagina (13) as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the jacket tube (18) is a metal tube against the outer surface of which is placed a heating element or elements (23, 23'), for heating the interior part (25) and the air layer (41) to the desired
temperature, and that the connections (60 and corresp. 60') bringing in and taking out the air used in the air layer (41) and air duct (41') are connected to air pumps or to a pump-valve-combination creating an over- or underpressure, to adjust amounts of air or air pressures independently of each other.

4. An artificial vagina (13) as claimed in claim 3,
characterized in that the jacket tube (18) comprises a temperature measuring sensor (63) for adjusting the
temperature of the heating elements to the desired value.

5. The use of the artificial vagina relating to claim 1 for collecting semen to be used in animal breeding, the
artificial vagina (13) comprising at least a tubular interior part (25) consisting of resilient rubber or equivalent material, characterized in that an underpressure is created in the air layer (41) and air duct (41') through the connections (60, 60') before serving takes place, so that the interior part (25) presses at least for the most part against the interior surface of the jacket tube (18) to heat the interior part (25) quickly to the required temperature by means of the heating elements (23, 23'), and that after this, air is supplied through the connections (60, 60') to the air layer (41) and air duct (41') for adjusting the sizes of the interior part (25) and the stimulation ring (56) to suit each serving animal
separately.

6. The use as claimed in claim 5, characterized in that the temperature of the air layer (41), and thus also of the interior part ( 25 ) , is maintained correct by means of the heating elements (23, 23') at least for the duration of the possible preparation period, and that towards the end or at the end of serving, the pressure in the air layer (41) is lowered if necessary to facilitate the animal releasing itself from the artificial vagina.

7. The use as claimed in claim 5 or 6 , characterized in that for the serving, inside the interior part (25) of the artificial vagina (13) is placed a clean protective film (26), which is changed for each time of serving.

8. The use as claimed in any of the claims 5 to 7,
characterized in that the artificial vagina (13) is used either fastened to a dummy animal or breeding mount, or alternatively manually as a separate device.

1. An artificial vagina intended for collecting semen to be used in animal breeding, the artificial vagina (13)
comprising at least a tubular interior part (25) made of resilient rubber or equivalent material, a heatable jacket tube (18), to the ends of which is fastened the tubular interior part (25) coming inside it, and a connection (60) for introducing air between the jacket tube (18) and the interior part (25), characterized in that the interior part (25) can be brought into contact with the interior surface of the jacket tube (18) and/or to its immediate vicinity by steplessly adjusting the thickness of the air layer (41) remaining between the interior part (25) and the interior surface of the jacket tube (18) for heating and using the artificial vagina (13).

2. An artificial vagina (13) as claimed in claim 1,
characterized in that there is a padded ring (55)
encircling the end of the jacket tube (18) directed outwar from the dummy animal (10), and at the other end of the jacket tube remaining inside the a dummy animal (10), there is a hollow stimulation ring (56) made of rubber or other resilient material inside the jacket tube (18), the amount of air in the interior air duct (41') of the stimulation ring being steplessly adjustable through the connection (60'), for heating and using the artificial vagina, and that the ends of the interior part (25) pass around the padded ring (55) and stimulation ring (56) over the ends of the jacket tube (18) for fastening.

An artificial vagina (13) as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the jacket tube (18) is a metal tube against the outer surface of which is placed an electric heating element or elements (23, 23'), for heating the interior part (25) and the air layer (41) to the desired temperature, and that the connections (60 and corresp. 60') bringing in and taking out the air used in the air layer (41) and air duct (41') are connected to air pumps or to a pump-valve-combination creating an over- or underpressure, to adjust amounts of air or air pressures independently of each other.

4. An artificial vagina (13) as claimed in claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the jacket tube (18) comprises a temperature measuring sensor (63) for adjusting the
temperature of the heating elements to the desired value.

5. A method for collecting semen to be used in animal breeding by means of an artificial vagina, the artificial vagina (13) comprising at least a tubular interior part (25) made of resilient rubber or equivalent material, a heatable jacket tube (18), to the ends of which is fastened the tubular interior part (25) coming inside i / and a connection (60) for introducing air between the jacket tube (18) and the interior part (25), characterized in that an underpressure is created in the air layer (41) between the interior part (25) and the interior surface of the jacket tube (18) through the connection (60) before serving takes place, so that the interior part (25) presses at least for the most part against the interior surface of the jacket tube (18) to heat the interior part (25) quickly to the required temperature by means of the heating elements (23, 23'), and that after this, air is supplied through the connection (60) to the air layer (41) for steplessly adjusting the size of the interior part (25) to suit each serving animal separately.

6. The method as claimed in claim 5, characterized in that an underpressure is created in the air duct (41') of a stimulation ring (56) through the connection (60') before serving takes place, so that the stimulation ring (56) presses at least for the most part against the interior surface of the jacket tube (18) to heat the stimulation ring (56) quickly to the required temperature by means of the heating elements (23, 23'), and that after this, air is supplied through the connection (60') to the air duct
(41'), for steplessly adjusting the size of the jacket tube stimulation ring (56) at the other end of the jacket tube remaining inside the dummy animal (10), situated to suit each serving animal separately.

7. The method as claimed in claim 5 or 6, characterized in that the temperature of the air layer (41) and the air duct (41'), and thus also of the interior part (25), is
maintained correct by means of the heating elements (23, 23') at least for the duration of the possible preparation period, and that towards the end or at the end of serving, the pressure in the air layer (41) and in the air duct (41') is lowered if necessary to facilitate the animal releasing itself from the artificial vagina.

8. The method as claimed in claim 5, 6 or 7, characterized in that for the serving, inside the interior part (25) of the artificial vagina (13) is placed a clean protective film (26), which is changed for each serving.

9. The use of the artificial vagina as claimed in any of the claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the artificial vagina (13) is used either fastened to a dummy animal or breeding mount, or alternatively manually as a separate device.
