WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:
1. A system for reprocessing catheters having a catheter hub, body, at least two lumens and a balloon; said system comprising:
a) cleaning means for supplying catheter cleaning solution to the lumens and outside of a catheter;
b) balloon test means for testing the balloon strength and filling volume and -for displaying strength and volume date;
c) rinsing means for removing said cleaning solution from the catheter; and
d) means for monitoring the condition of the catheter during reprocessing.
2. The system of Claim 1 wherein said monitoring means measures indicia of usability of said catheter.
3. The system of Claim 2 further including means responsive to said monitoring means for selectively controlling the sequencing of the reprocessing procedures in response to the
condition of said catheter to prohibit the use of defective catheters.
4. The system of Claim 3 further comprising means for storing predetermined criteria which a catheter must meet in order to be usable.
5. The system of Claim 4 wherein said controlling means compares indicia of usability of said catheter to balloon strength and volume data and inhibits further reprocessing if said data does not meet said predetermined criteria.
6. The system of Claim 1 wherein said balloon test means measures the volume of said balloon at preselected, varied pressures.
7. The system of Claim 1 further including - . 4
. storage means for storing a catheter surrounded with cleaning solution, said means including a

- catheter case into which a catheter is insertable, said case including a plurality of parts
constructed and arranged such that access to the exterior and interior of the catheter is possible form the outside of the case, each of said ports being normally closed until engaged with said cleaning means, balloon test means or rinsing means.
8. The system of Claim 7 wherein said case further includes means for indicating whether said case is sealed under pressure.
9. A cleaner for reprocessing catheters of the type having a. catheter hub, body, lumens and a balloon, said cleaner comprising:
a) cleaning means for supplying
catheter cleaning solution to the lumens and outside of a catheter;
b) balloon test means for testing the balloon strength and filling volume and for displaying strength and volume data;
c) storage means for storing a catheter surrounded with cleaning solution;
d) rinsing means for removing all traces of cleaning solution from the catheter;
e) a computer including a memory, said computer having means for generating commands in accordance with programmed instructions for directing said cleaning means, balloon test means and rinse means for directing catheter
reprocessing and for displaying data; and
f) a control console coupled to said computer for inserting programmed instructions therein.

10. A system for reprocessing catheters having a catheter hub, body at least two lumens and a balloon, said system comprising:
a) cleaning means for supplying catheter cleaning solution through the lumens and around the exterior of a catheter;
b) balloon test means for testing the balloon volume at preselected pressures and comparing such volume and pressure data to the specification for unused catheters;
c) rinsing means for removing said cleaning solution from the catheter and
maintaining the sterility of the cleaned catheter during rinsing, said rinsing means further including means for testing the integrity of said balloon by applying fluid under pressure to said balloon until either a preselected pressure is

• reached or a limit switch is contacted to stop fluid flow; and
d) means for monitoring the condition of the catheter during reprocessing.
11. The system of Claim 10 wherein said monitoring means measures indicia of usability of said catheter.
12. The system of Claim 11 further including means responsive to said monitoring means for selectively controlling the sequencing of the reprocessing procedures in response to the
condition of said catheter to prohibit the use of defective catheters.
13. The system of Claim 12 further
comprising means for storing predetermined
criteria which a catheter must meet in order to be usable.
14. The system of Claim 13 wherein said controlling means compares indicia of usability of said catheter to balloon strength and volume data and inhibits further reprocessing if said data does not meet said predetermined criteria.
15. The system of Claim 14 further including storage means for storing a catheter surrounded with cleaning solution, said means including a catheter case into which a catheter is insertable, said case including a plurality of ports, said ports being constructed and arranged such that access to the exterior and interior of the
catheter is possible form the outside of the case, each of said ports being normally closed until engaged with said cleaning means, balloon test means or rinsing means.
16. The system of Claim 15 wherein said case further includes means for indicating whether said case is sealed under pressure.
17. A case for holding a balloon catheter therewithin for reprocessing, said balloon
catheter being of the type having a central tube and a tube for inflating a balloon encircling the catheter adjacent one end; said case comprising:
a) an upper case half;
b) a lower case half;
c) means for joining said lower case half to said upper case half such that a sealed chamber is defined between said case halves so as to accomodate a balloon catheter therewithin;
d) said upper case half including manifold means for providing fluid communication through the upper case half to said chamber, said manifold means being constructed and arranged such that a plurality of ports are presented to which a balloon catheter central tube and inflation tube may be connected; and
e) pressure indicating means for providing a visual indicator of the pressure within said case, said pressure indicating means penetrating said case so as to be able to sense pressure within said chamber.
18. The case of Claim 17 wherein said case further includes a tray means for insertion between said upper case and lower case halves, said tray means being constructed and arranged so as to form an annular channel into which a balloon catheter may be wrapped.
19. The case of Claim 18 wherein said manifold means includes a port to which an
elongated tube is connected, said tube being constructed and arranged having a plurality of perforations through its side walls such that when said tube is positioned within the annular channel of said tray means, fluid passing through the part may be distributed at multiple locations within the annular channel.
