2. A dust extractor according to Claim 1, wherein said mounting assembly is a housing which is adapted to be enclosed by a lid assembly beneath which the article to be cleaned may be maintained engaged against said grille assembly and wherein v
.said collection means is in the form of a removable dust retaining tray arranged to collect dust passing from said article through said grille assembly.

3. A dust extractor according to Claim 1 or Claim 2, wherein there is provided a beater assembly supported by said mounting assembly and operable to repeatedly strike the article to be cleaned to free dust therefrom.

4. A dust extractor according to Claim 3, wherein said beater assembly includes a set of beating arms of which are supported for movement to and from the article to be cleaned on a supporting shaft supported by said mounting assembly and there being provided drive means for actuating said beating arms .

5. A dust extractor according to Claim 4, wherein said beater assembly constitutes one of a pair of similar beater assemblies mounted oppositely one another in said housing and wherein, the arms of each set of beater arms are interleaved and spaced apart and extend to one side of a respective said support shaft, and the latter extending in spaced relationship adjacent opposite side walls of said housing and said drive means being operable to oscillate to said support shafts about their longitudinal axes.

6. A dust extractor according to Claim 5, wherein said beater arms are biased towards a beating position at which they engage an article to be cleaned and said drive means includes a cam arrangement operable to move said arms away from said beating position and then release said arms for return to said beating position.

7. A dust extractor according to Claim 5 or Claim 6, wherein said sets of beating arms are maintained out of phase with one another whereby one set may constitute said grille assembly when the other set is moved from said beating
position.

8. A dust extractor according to any one of the
preceding claims, wherein there are provided actuating means for vibrating said grille assembly.

9. A dust extractor according to any one of the
preceding claims, wherein said collection means is disposed beneath said grille assembly whereby dust extracted from the article to be cleaned will fall into said collection means.
