(EN)An improved sensor arrangement for an apparatus (10) which travels a detector (21) along textile machines such as spinning frames (12) for determining the absence of yams from locations therealong at which such yams normally are present for thereby locating ends down on the textile machines. The arrangement disclosed herein includes an optical system (24) defining a light path for focusing light reflected from yams and a plurality of sensors (25A, 25B) for receiving light passed along a common light path by the optical system and for generating pulse electrical signals in response to variations in illumination in respective, vertically spaced and aligned, fields of view.
