The invention relates to a method and a recording device for formatting and recording on a multi-layer phase- change type optical disc (10). The method includes, for example, recording areas on a first (12) and a second layer (18) of the optical disc (10) according to a predefined sequence, thus ensuring that an area of the first layer (12) where through an incident radiation beam (16) passes is always fully written or fully empty when recording on the second layer (18) in order to prevent interference with the incident radiation beam (16) from the first layer (12) when recording on the second layer (18).

본 발명은, 다층 상변화형 광 디스크(10)를 포맷하고 기록하는 방법 및 기록장치에 관한 것이다. 이 방법은, 예를 들면, 소정의 순서에 따라 광 디스크(10)의 제 1 층(12)과 제 2 층(18) 상의 영역을 기록하여, 제 2 층(18)에 기록시에, 입사 방사빔(16)이 통과하는 제 1 층(12)의 영역이 항상 전체가 기록되거나 전체가 비워져, 제 2 층(18)의 기록시에 제 1 층(12)으로부터의 입사 방사빔(16)과의 간섭을 방지하도록 보장하는 과정을 포함한다.
