(EN) A driver state determination device for determining whether or not a driver of a vehicle is in a consciousness lowering state executes: a step (S16) of analyzing a main component of a distribution of acceleration operation state to an approach degree at the time of following a preceding vehicle; a step (S18) of moving origins of all data; and a step (S20) of generating a model of the acceleration operation state when the driver is awake as a normal driving model. Then, the device executes: steps (S22 to S26) of calculating likelihood of the acceleration operation state, a likelihood average, likelihood dispersion and a likelihood threshold; and a step (S28) of determining whether or not the likelihood of current operation falls below the likelihood threshold. When determined to fall below, the device determines that the driver is in the consciousness lowering state. An erroneous determination of consciousness lowering due to a difference in characteristics of driver's operation is prevented since the determination is made as above by calculating the likelihood threshold on the basis of data when the driver is awake.

在判定本车的驾驶员是否处于意识下降状态的驾驶员状态判定装置中,对相对于跟随前车时的接近度的加速操作状态的分布,进行主成分分析(S16),使全部数据进行原点移动(S18),并且将驾驶员清醒时的加速操作状态生成为通常行驶模型(S20)。接着,进行加速操作状态的似然、似然平均、似然方差及似然阈值的计算(S22~S26),进行当前的驾驶操作的似然是否小于似然阈值的判定(S28),在小于的情况下,进行驾驶员的意识下降判定。像这样,由于基于驾驶员清醒时的数据计算似然阈值并进行判定,所以由驾驶员的操作的特征差异导致的意识下降判定的误判定被抑制。
