The invention relates to an indoor positioning method and system and electronic equipment. The indoor positioning method includes the steps that the distances between at least three known joints and an unknown joint are calculated according to a signal propagation loss formula; the distances are taken as radiuses, at least three square areas are obtained around the at least three known joints, andthe minimum overlap area is obtained according to the overlap part of the at least three square areas; the geometric center of the minimum overlap area is taken as the center to scale down the minimum overlap area at the same proportion, and a new square area is obtained; the optimal vertex position of the new square area is obtained through iterative computation according to an iterative least square method; and the optimal vertex position is taken as a new center point, a new smaller area is formed again around the optimal vertex position, and the optimal vertex position of the smaller areais taken as the estimated position of the unknown joint. According to the positioning algorithm, the complexity is lower, and the positioning accuracy can be effectively improved on the basis of notincreasing the calculation amount.
