PURPOSE: A torque angle sensor and an electronic power steering apparatus having the same are provided to reduce the manufacturing cost and to simplify the assembling process by executing functions of both a torque sensor and an angle sensor at the same time. CONSTITUTION: A torque angle sensor is composed of a torque rotor, a position angle rotor(430), a first sub gear(340), a second sub gear(345), a first hall integrated circuit chip(325), a second hall integrated circuit chip(327), a MICOM(320), and a housing(255). A first magnetic member is formed along the outer circumference in the torque rotor. The position angle rotor comprises a gear unit. Teeth geared with a gear unit of the position angle rotor are formed in the outer circumference of the first and second sub gears. The first and second hall integrated circuit chips sense the magnetic field and rotary direction of a magnet(347) rotating with the rotation of the first and second sub gears. The MICOM computes the steering angle by receiving signals from the first and second hall integrated circuit chips. ©KIPO 2009
