What is claimed is:

1. A solenoid valve configured to transfer cooking medium from a first system to a second system, the solenoid valve comprising:

a solenoid, comprising:

a solenoid coil, and

an armature shaft disposed to extend out of a bottom surface of the solenoid, the armature shaft configured to move into and out of the solenoid, and

a valve body, comprising:

a push rod disposed to extend out of a top surface of the valve body, the push rod contacting the armature shaft and configured to move into and out of the valve body,

a valve chamber,

a first sealing ring disposed around the push rod and configured to seal the valve chamber,

a poppet disposed within the valve body, the poppet contacting a bottom portion of the push rod opposite the armature shaft, and the poppet including a projection,

a second sealing ring disposed on the poppet and configured to seal the valve chamber when the solenoid is not energized,

a poppet guide within the valve body, the poppet guide including a through hole, and

a spring disposed between the poppet and the poppet guide and configured to position the poppet relative to the poppet guide,

wherein upon energizing the solenoid coil to permit transfer of the cooking medium,

the armature shaft is configured to extend out of the bottom surface of the solenoid and push the push rod into the valve body, and

the push rod is configured to push the poppet into the poppet guide by depressing the spring such that the projection of the poppet extends into the through hole of the poppet guide.

2. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, wherein the first sealing member is configured to seal the valve chamber such that the cooking medium is prevented from contacting the solenoid coil.

3. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, wherein the first sealing member is configured to seal the valve chamber such that the cooking medium is prevented from contacting the armature shaft.

4. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, wherein the poppet is self-centering with the protrusion of the poppet contacting the poppet guide.

5. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, wherein energizing the solenoid coil to permit transfer of the cooking medium enables the cooking medium to move along a first path and a second path that is different from the first path.

6. The solenoid valve according to claim 5, wherein the first path is a path disposed at least partially along the push rod, and the second path is a path disposed at least partially between the poppet and the poppet guide.

7. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, wherein the spring is configured to push the poppet away from the poppet guide and into a poppet resting position in a solenoid coil de-energized state.

8. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, wherein the spring is configured to generate a spring force that is sufficient to overcome the viscosity of congealed cooking medium.

9. The solenoid valve according to claim 8, wherein the spring force is approximately 5 to 15 pounds of force.

10. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, wherein the poppet is configured to fit inside the poppet guide such that a substantial portion of the cooking medium on a surface of the projection of the poppet is scraped off by movement of the poppet extending into the poppet guide.

11. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, further comprising a sealing washer disposed along an edge of a surface of the poppet, the sealing washer configured to seal the valve chamber such that the cooking medium is prevented from passing through the valve chamber from an inlet to an outlet of the valve body in a solenoid coil de-energized state.

12. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, wherein the solenoid is attached to the valve body with a fastening mechanism.

13. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, further comprising a side-opening formed in a side of the poppet guide, such that residual cooking medium is forced out of the poppet guide through the side-opening.

14. The solenoid valve according to claim 1, further comprising a wire disposed adjacent a surface of the solenoid, the wire configured to connect to a power source for energizing the solenoid coil.
