CLAIMS

1. Medical device comprising a cross-linked modified polyamide.

2. Medical device according to claim 1 , wherein the medical device is selected from implanted or implantable medical devices, preferably balloon/balloon material, stents, stent grafts, grafts, graft connectors or catheters, most preferably is a balloon/balloon material.

3. Medical device according to claim 1 , wherein the medical device is a balloon attached to a balloon catheter.

4. Medical device according to claim 3, wherein the balloon is consisting of the cross-linked modified polyamide.

5. Medical device according to any of claims 1 to 4, wherein the cross- linked modified polyamide is obtainable by a process in which at least one step is executed using reactive extrusion.

6. Medical device according to any of claims 1 to 5, wherein the cross- linked modified polyamide is obtainable by a process in which the polyamide is
• in a first step modified with either (a) a bifunctional or monfunctional crosslink-reactive compound comprising at least one reactive group allowing reaction with crosslinkers or (b) with triallyl isocyanurate

(TAIC) or derivatives thereof and
• in a second step is undergoing a cross-linking reaction by treatment with at least one form of energy.

7. Medical device according to claim 5, wherein the first step is executed using reactive extrusion.

8. Medical device according to any of claims 5 or 6, wherein the energy being used for the cross-linking reaction is irradiation and/or thermal energy, preferably is heating, UV irradiation, electronic beam (e-beam) or gamma irradiation.

9. Medical device according to any of claims 6 to 8, wherein the bifunctional or monofunctional crosslink-reactive compound is a linear compound comprising a C=C-doublebond.

10. Medical device according to claim 9, wherein the cross-linking reaction is executed as vulcanisation reaction using sulphur as crosslinker and/or radical reaction using UV curing agents optionally in combination with acrylates or photomer polymers.

11. Medical device according to claim 10, wherein the UV curing agents are selected from benzophenone, or hydroxycyclohexy phenyl ketone, or stilbene derivatives, and/or the acrylates are selected from trimethylpropane triacylates.

Medical device according to any of claims 2 to 11 , wherein the medical device is a balloon and wherein the process for obtaining the cross- linked modified polyamide is executed after the balloon was formed in a blow molding process, preferably wherein the medical device is a balloon and wherein the second step, the cross-linking reaction, according to claim 6 is executed after the balloon was formed in a blow molding process.

13. Medical device according to any of claims 1 to 12, wherein the modified polyamide is described by any of formulas Ia, or Ic or Ib

with

X1 being a bifunctional crosslink-reactive compound;

X being a bifunctional crosslink-reactive compound,
a monfunctional crosslink-reactive compound, or
O-B or O-B'; and

X being a bifunctional crosslink-reactive compound,
a monfunctional crosslink-reactive compound, or
H;

or

either with

X1 being a bifunctional crosslink-reactive compound;

while X2 is a bifunctional crosslink-reactive compound,
a monfunctional crosslink-reactive compound, or
O-B or O-B1; and
