Claims:

1. A process for the preparation of polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline comprising the following steps:

a) reacting, in a polar solvent, a compound of formula (I)

wherein:

Ri and R2 contain elements of halogen group respectively; and

R3 is a perhaloalkyl,

with ammonia ,in the presence of an alkali halide at a temperature of about 200°C to about 300°C and a pressure of about 20 to about 50 kg/cm to form 2-halo-perhaloalkylaniline; and

b) reacting 2-halo-perhaloalkylaniline formed in step (a) with a halogenating agent to form a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline.

2. A process for the preparation of a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to claim 1 wherein RI and R2 are chlorine.

3. A process for the preparation of a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to claim 1 wherein R3 is trifluoromethyl.

4. A process for the preparation of a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to claim 1 wherein the reaction is carried out at a temperature in the range of about 235°C to about 250°C.

5. A process for the preparation of a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to claim 1 wherein the reaction is conducted at a pressure in the range of about 25 kg/cm 2 to about 42 kg/cm 2.

6. A process for the preparation of a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the alkali metal halide is potassium fluoride.

7. A process for the preparation of a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to claim 1 wherein the ammonia is anhydrous ammonia.

8. A process for the preparation of a polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the polar solvent is selected from a group of polar solvents consisting of N-methylpyrrolidone, , dimethylsulfone, Ν,Ν'-dimethylimidazolidinone and diphenyl sulfone.

9. A process for the preparation of polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the solvent is N-methylpyrrolidone.

10. A process for the preparation of polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to claim 1 wherein the halogenating agent is atleast one selected from the group consisting of chlorine, sulfuryl chloride, thionyl chloride, and phosphorus pentachloride (PC15).

1 1. A process for the preparation of polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the polyhalogenated perhaloalkylaniline is 2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylaniline.
