CLAIMS

1) A seawater desalination system (1; 30) comprising desalination means (2) for receiving seawater and supplying desalinated water, and desalinated-water storage means (4) ; characterized in that both the desalination means (2) and the desalinated-water storage means (4) float on the sea.
2) A system as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that said desalination means (2) and said storage means

(4) are located adjacent to each other.
3) A system as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said desalination means (2) are located higher than said storage means (4) , and the desalinated water flows to said storage means (4) simply by force of gravity.
4) A system as claimed in any one of the foregoing Claims, characterized in that said storage means comprise at least one floating bag (23) made of flexible sheet material .
5) A system as claimed in Claim 4, characterized in that said flexible sheet material is a plastic material.

6) A system as claimed in Claim 4 or 5, characterized in that said storage means (4) comprise mooring means (24, 25) for mooring said bag (23) to the seabed; said mooring means (24, 25) comprising at least one attachment (24) at least partly surrounding said bag (23) .

7) A system as claimed in Claim 6, characterized in that said mooring means (24, 25) comprise a net (24) at least partly containing said bag (23) .
8) A system as claimed in any one of Claims 4 to 7, characterized in that said bag (23) comprises connecting means (26) for connection to a pipe (27) for feeding the desalinated water to land.
9) A system as claimed in any one of the foregoing Claims, characterized in that said desalination means (2) comprise a solar evaporating unit (6) and a condensing unit (16) ; the condensing unit (16) using seawater as coolant means .
10) A system as claimed in Claim 9, characterized in that the evaporating unit (6) comprises at least one tank (7) containing a mass (8) of seawater; and an element (10) permeable to light and closing said tank (7) to form a light chamber (12) for containing the vapour produced by evaporation of the seawater in said tank (7) .
11) A system as claimed in Claim 9 or 10, characterized in that said condensing unit (16) comprises a dark chamber (15) communicating with said light chamber (12) and housing at least one tube bundle (18) over which said vapour flows .
12) A system as claimed in Claim 11, characterized in that said tube bundle (18) comprises a number of coplanar, adjacent tubes (19) connected parallel and through which said seawater flows .
13) A system as claimed in Claim 12, characterized in that said tubes (19) are made of plastic material.
14) A system as claimed in any one of Claims 11 to 13, characterized in that said light chamber (12) and said dark chamber (15) are connected to each other to form an endless circuit for said vapour; actuating means (13) being interposed along said endless circuit to propel said vapour.
15) A system as claimed in Claim 14, characterized in that said actuating means comprise a single fan (13) . 16) A system as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said desalination means (2) comprise a solar evaporating unit (6) for producing water vapour, and a condensing unit (31) for condensing said water vapour; the condensing unit (31) using seawater as coolant means, and comprising a tube bundle (32) immersed in the seawater and through which said water vapour flows .
17) A system as claimed in Claim 16, characterized in that said tube bundle' (32) extends in a tilted position to receive the water vapour at the top and supply condensed water at the bottom.
18) A system as claimed in Claim 17, characterized by comprising thrust means (38) for feeding the condensed water to said storage means (4) .
