Improvements made to elliptical drive mechanisms and steering mechanisms applied to velocipedes in general, and more specifically elliptical velocipedes (1) including bicycles (Bc), tricycles (Tc) and scooters (Pt), which have a tubular longitudinal member (2A) on which are assembled the basic parts, specifically: fork (2b), handlebar (Gd) mount (2c), front wheel (Rd), rear wheel (Rt), center cog (Cc), cranksets (Pd) and the elliptical drive mechanism (M1) and steering mechanism (M2); the structural frame (2) has a longitudinal member (2A) with one extremity aligned with the assumed center of the rear wheel (Rt), a tubular transverse axle (ET), the end portions of which have tubular connections (3a), in which each connection is attached to a guide rod (3) that acts as a slideway for the corresponding shoe (4); each rod (3) is parallel to the longitudinal member (2A), while each sliding shoe (4) forms a platform, the lower base of which can be attached to an arm of the crankset (Pd), which is in turn installed on the central cog (Cc) of the velocipede (1) that actuates the chain (5) used to transmit the motion to the sprocket wheel; the lower surface of each plate (4) has at least two pairs of inverted-L-shaped supporting elements (4d) installed on the lateral edges of the plate (4a), which hold pulleys (7) having sections that match the sections of each guide rod (3); since the shoes (4) are mounted on the extremities of the arms of the crankset, the sliding of same in each guide rod (3) is inverted and, since said rods (3) are articulated on the transverse axle (ET), they have an alternating up/down angular motion, causing the rotational movement of the crankset (Pd) and, consequently, the rotation of the central cog (Cc), of the chain (5) and of the sprocket wheel that, in this case, is mounted on the front wheel (Rd), comprising the elliptical drive mechanism (M1).
