Stemming reduces inflected words to their stem or root form.
For example the words fishing, fished, fish, and fisher are reduced to the root word, fish,
so a search for fisher returns all the different variations
Returns only one member of a family of patents

A method for ship ballasting includes receiving, at a carbon negative energy storage system, input comprising calcium oxide and water and reacting, within a reaction chamber of the carbon negative energy storage system, the calcium oxide and water to release energy and generate calcium hydroxide. The method includes directing, by the carbon negative energy storage system, the released energy to a requesting end user and providing, by the carbon negative energy storage system, the calcium hydroxide to a marine vessel ballasting system. The method includes releasing a mixture of the calcium hydroxide and ballast water from the marine vessel ballasting system into the ocean to sequester atmospheric CO2.

An ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) system that reduces atmospheric CO2 and mitigates ocean acidification by electrochemically processing feedstock solution (e.g., seawater or brine) to generate an alkalinity product that is then supplied to the ocean. The OAE system includes a base-generating device and a control circuit disposed within a modular system housing deployed near a salt feedstock. The base-generating device (e.g., a bipolar electrodialysis (BPED) system) generates a base substance that is then used to generate the ocean alkalinity product. The control circuit controls the base-generating device such that the alkalinity product is supplied to the ocean only when (1) sufficient low/zero-carbon electricity is available, (2) it is safe to operate the base-generating device, and (3) supplying the alkalinity product will not endanger sea life. Modified BPED systems include features that facilitate autonomous system operations including enhanced maintenance cycle operations and a reduced reliance on external fresh water sources.

Disclosed herein are aspects of a system for coupling electrochemical marine carbon capture with photosynthesis. In some aspects of the present disclosure, the system comprises an electrochemical cell that converts saline water into (i) a base stream, (ii) an at least partially deionized water stream, and (iii) an acid stream. In some aspects, the system further comprises a biomass cultivation unit in fluid communication with the acid stream, the biomass cultivation unit comprising a photosynthetic organism. The acid stream catalyzes release of CO2 in a growth medium for the photosynthetic organism to accelerate growth of the photosynthetic organism relative to growth without the acid stream and facilitates CO2 storage by the photosynthetic organism. Also disclosed herein are aspects of a method for coupling electrochemical marine carbon capture with photosynthesis.

A method includes deploying a payload at a first location in a body of water while the payload is in a first configuration. The payload can travel via natural water currents to a second location in the body of water and transition from the first configuration to a second configuration during travel from the first location to the second location to facilitate atmospheric carbon sequestration. The method includes quantifying an amount of the atmospheric carbon sequestration associated with the payload transitioning from the first configuration to the second configuration. In some implementations, the payload may be a substrate that may be seeded with a target product. In some implementations, such a substrate may be formed of naturally occurring material, which may include an alkaline liquid.
