A method and system for detecting a trend in geospatial data are provided. The method includes receiving input data, wherein the data includes ordered, sequential data and a choice of a confidence level; selecting a plurality of non-stationarity tests from a set of tests based on estimated parameters from an auto-regressive moving average (ARMA) model; generating synthetic data for the selected plurality of non-stationarity tests using the estimated parameters, wherein the synthetic data is generated using the ARMA model; performing the selected plurality of tests on the generated synthetic data; and detecting at least one trend based on results of the selected plurality of tests.
