The invention concerns a topical composition for the permanent removal of unwanted hair from the human body. The composition is a compound of Enzyme + Diluter + Activator + Acid, preferably, Horseradish Peroxidase + Water + Hydrogen Peroxide + Sulfuric Acid. The invention also concerns a method comprising removing unwanted hair from a portion of skin and applying the composition on the said portion. The invention refers to a mechanism that maintains the horizontal position of a carrier independently of the inclination of its base. The mechanism is consisted of the carrier system (1, 2, 3), the cavity system (4, 5) which is lean on a stationary base (10, 11) and the equalizer system (7, 8, 9). The plane surface (1) sits on the carrier (2) and it is connected to the equalizer through the rod (8). The carrier can slide on the outside semi-spherical surface of the cavity (4). The sphere (7) of the equalizer can slide on the inner semi-spherical surface of the cavity and the equalizer through its counterweight (9) tends to keep its vertical position. Therefore, the plane surface (1), which is at 90° with respect to the rod (8), tends to maintain its horizontal position.

The retrofitting of an existing methanol or methanol/ammonia plant to make acetic acid is disclosed. The existing plant has a reformer (10) to which natural gas or another hydrocarbon and steam (water) are fed. Syngas is formed in the reformer (10). All or part of the syngas is processed to separate out carbon dioxide (24), carbon monoxide (30) and hydrogen (32), and the separated carbon dioxide (24) is fed either to the existing methanol synthesis loop (12) for methanol synthesis, or back into the feed to the reformer (10) to enhance carbon monoxide formation in the syngas (18). Any remaining syngas (38) not fed to the carbon dioxide separator (22) can be converted to methanol in the existing methanol synthesis loop (12) along with carbon dioxide (24) from the separator (22) and/or imported carbon dioxide (25), and hydrogen (35) from the separator (28). The separated carbon monoxide (30) is then reacted with the methanol (36) to produce acetic acid (40) or an acetic acid precursor by a conventional process. Also disclosed is the reaction of separated hydrogen (32) with nitrogen (52), in a conventional manner, to produce ammonia. Also disclosed is the reaction of a portion of the acetic acid (40) in a conventional manner with oxygen (46) and ethylene (44) to form vinyl acetate monomer (48). The nitrogen for the added ammonia capacity in a retrofit of an original methanol plant comprising an ammonia synthesis loop (33), and the oxygen (46) for the vinyl acetate monomer process (42), are obtained from a new air separation unit (50).

A catalyst is intended for the oxidative demercaptanization (sweetening) of hydrocarbons compositions including petroleum, petroleum distillates, gasolines, kerosenes, jet fuels, diesel fuels and heating oils, natural-gas liquids, etc. It may be used in a fixed-bed or fluidized-bed process. A catalyst consist of an active part and an inert component. The active part contains an oxide of a transition metal of Groups Ib, V-VIIb of the Periodic Table, either Ni or Co oxide, or mixture of oxides of the indicated elements, and transition metal salts, and nitrogen-containing organics. The inert component is an oxide of an element of Groups IIa, III, IV, or Fe oxide, or chemical compound including not less than 95 % oxides of indicated elements, or mixture of the above compounds. A method for a preparation of the catalyst is following: the inert compound is impregnated with aqueous solution of transition metal salt, the resulting product is calcined in air flow for metal oxide formation, and transition metal salt and nitrogen containing organics are deposed from their solution in organic solvent. An application of the catalyst for the oxidative demercaptanisation of hydrocarbon compositions includes passing the latter through the fixed bed or flow bed of a catalyst at 10-80°C, at pressure 1-10 at. The demercaptanisation proceeds in the presence of air or oxygen, or gas, containing not less than 5 % of oxygen.

The present invention provides a plant and a process that produces both methanol and acetic acid under substantially stoichiometric conditions, wherein an unadjusted syngas having an R ratio less than 2.0 is provided. All or part of the unadjusted syngas is supplied to a separator unit to recover CO2, CO and hydrogen. At least a portion of any one or combination of the recovered CO2 , CO and hydrogen is added to any remaining syngas not so treated or alternatively combines in the absence of any remaining unadjusted syngas to yield an adjusted syngas with an R ratio of 2.0 to 2.9 which is used to produce methanol. Any recovered CO2 not used to adjust the R ratio of the unadjusted syngas can be supplied to the reformer to enhance CO production. At least a portion of the recovered CO is reacted in the acetic acid reactor with at least a portion of the produced methanol to produce acetic acid or an acetic acid precursor by a conventional process.
