The present invention is best known as Food Solar Cooker with Electric Backing, which has been designed for cooking food mainly using solar energy in clear days, and an electric backing using electric resistances in cloudy days. The aforementioned electric resistances supply thermal energy to the cooker when the solar energy is not enough. The solar design of the equipment is similar to that of equipments best known as solar ovens or solar cookers. The solar cooker with electric backing of the present invention comprises a half-cylinder-shaped cooking chamber cut lengthwise the longitudinal axis thereof. The chamber is thermally isolated by the wall and the caps of the cylinder and by a transparent material located lengthwise the axial axis thereof. A solar concentrator includes 4 flat mirrors angularly adjustable with regard to the flat transparent glass. A mechanical system is provided for adjusting the tilt of the solar connector and therefore that of the flat transparent glass, wi th regard to the solar radiation flow. The glass is located at the upper portion of the solar concentrator. The invention also includes an electric backing system used in case the solar energy is not enough for cooking food;a support base for holding saucepans, the base having bearings useful for allowing a rotating movement to be performed within the semi-cylindrical-shaped cooker chamber;a temperature automatic system for controlling the cooker operation. The control system allows the cooking operation to be performed in such a manner so that the maximum amount of solar energy is obtained and an electric support is provided just in case the solar energy is not enough to cook food.
