In particular, the control unit is adapted to operate the emission of ozone and to stop the emission when there is the condition C = C*, where C* is a predetermined threshold value necessary to obtain a correct sanitation of the closed environment. The control unit is also arranged to estimate a preliminary value Formula I of the decomposition time of ozone, to monitor the reduction of the value of concentration C following the interruption of emission, to calculate a value Formula II of the decomposition speed and to calculate a value ta of the decomposition time.
