The cannula is inserted into the bone such that the outer surface of the scoop is positioned adjacent to the portion of the patient to be protected. A balloon is inserted into the cannula such that the balloon is positioned within the scoop. The balloon is inflated such that the balloon expands away from the scoop as the balloon is inflated and creates a void in the bone. Systems are disclosed.
