好適な実施形態の一例は、非圧縮構成フレームを第1の符号化ピクチャに符号化し、再構成された第1のピクチャを得て、前記構成フレームの有効ピクチャエリアを第1のピクチャ内とすることと;前記符号化の一環として、前記構成フレームに対する境界拡張部を形成するべく、前記有効ピクチャエリア外の少なくとも1つのサンプル値を挿入すること、または、前記有効ピクチャエリア内に収まるように前記有効ピクチャエリア外の複数のサンプル位置を飽和またはラップオーバーすること;を含む。好適な実施形態の別の例は、有効ピクチャエリアを有するピクチャの再構成された構成フレームを形成するべく、符号化ピクチャを復号することと;パディングされた参照ピクチャを生成するべく、前記有効ピクチャエリア外の領域を埋めてこの埋められた領域によって境界拡張部を形成すること、または、復号時に前記有効ピクチャエリア外の複数のサンプル位置を参照するとき、前記サンプル位置は前記有効ピクチャエリア内に収まるように飽和またはラップオーバーされていると判断すること;を含む。
