ポリフッ化ビニリデン−トリフルオロエチレン(PVDF−TrFE)共重合体中の末端基を交換または変換する方法と、これにより、PVDF−TrFE共重合体の強誘電特性を改善する方法を開示する。嵩高い、または化学的に異なる、ヨウ素またはヒドロキシル末端基などの末端基を、水素、フッ素、または塩素原子に変換することができる。水素、フッ素、または塩素より選ばれる末端基または置換基を含むPVDF−TrFE共重合体も開示する。この共重合体は、電子デバイス中の強誘電、電気機械、圧電、または誘電材料として使用することができる。
