(EN) PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for inspecting a generator rotor.

SOLUTION: The system includes a phased array ultrasonic converter (502) that includes an active face (504), provided with a plurality of converter elements (602) formed into an array. The converter elements are constituted to be excited in a prescribed order so as to generate a transmission beam (516) of ultrasonic energy at a plurality of angles to the active face. The converter elements are also constituted so as to receive ultrasonic echoes via the active face. The system also includes a converter wedge including a coupling face constituted so as to be coupled to the converter and a transmission face constituted so as to be coupled to the rotor (108). The wedge is constituted so that the beam is refracted at a prescribed angle on the transmission face so as to allow the ultrasonic transmission beam to enter a constituent element at an angle that is substantially vertical to the load face of the rotor.
