(EN) PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cleaning a face surface in which the trouble resulting from a mixed color ink is prevented from occurring, and an amount of the ink discarded is reduced.

SOLUTION: The face surfaces 22Ks and 22Cs are cleaned by using a blade 150 while a low negative pressure is kept acting to the inks in nozzles 22Kn and 22Cn. The same pressure as an atmospheric pressure (pressure outside of the nozzles 22Kn and 22Cn) acts to the inks in the nozzles 22Kn and 22Cn. Menisci Mc and Mk located on the same plane as the face surfaces 22Cs and 22Ks are formed at ink orifices 22Ci and 22Ki.

【課題】混色インクに起因するトラブルを防止すると共に廃棄するインクの量を減少させたフェイス面清掃方法を提供する。
【解決手段】ノズル22Kn,22Cn内のインクに低い負圧を作用させたままでブレード150を用いてフェイス面22Ks,22Csを清掃する。ノズル22Kn,22Cn内のインクには大気圧(ノズル22Kn,22Cnの外側の圧力)と同じ圧力が作用しており、フェイス面22Cs,22Ksと同一平面上に位置するメニスカスMc,Mkがインク吐出口22Ci,22Kiに形成されている。
