Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates to the field of medicine and in particular to Parkinson's disease (PD). Specifically the present invention relates to methods and means for early detection of PD. The invention relates also to methods and means for treatment or prophylaxis of PD. In the method of the invention a probability of a subject developing or having Parkinson's disease (PD)is determined by measuring the relative abundances of one or multiple microbial tax a in a sample from a subject; and the probability of the subject developing or having PD is determined based on the measured abundances. The present invention provides a novel approach for the diagnostics of PD.
(FR) La présente invention concerne le domaine de la médecine et en particulier la maladie de Parkinson (PD). Plus précisément, la présente invention concerne des procédés et des moyens pour la détection précoce de la PD. L'invention concerne également des méthodes et des moyens pour le traitement ou la prophylaxie de la PD. Selon le procédé de l'invention, la probabilité d'un sujet de développer la maladie de Parkinson (PD) ou d'être atteint de la maladie de Parkinson (PD) est déterminée en mesurant les abondances relatives d'une ou de plusieurs taxa microbiennes dans un échantillon provenant du sujet; et la probabilité du sujet de développer la PD ou d'être atteint de la PD est déterminée sur la base des abondances mesurées. La présente invention concerne une nouvelle approche permettant le diagnostic de la PD.
