Vorrichtung zur Gefahrenraumüberwachung an einem Bahnübergang und Verfahren zur Erkennung eines zu bewachenden Gefahrenraums (20) an einem Bahnübergang, wobei wenigstens ein Radarsensor (10) am Gefahrenraum (20) angeordnet ist, Objekttrajektorien (34) aus zeitlichen Abfolgen von Objektpositionen (32) jeweiliger vom Radarsensor (10) erfasster, sich durch den Gefahrenraum (20) bewegender Objekte (30) ermittelt werden, die Lage wenigstens eines Verkehrspfades (40; 42; 44; 46; 48) anhand einer Häufung (36) von Objekttrajektorien (34) erkannt wird, die Lagen von Schrankengeraden (37) anhand von Radarreflexionen (35) der geschlossenen Schranken (28) ermittelt werden, sowie der zu überwachende Gefahrenraum (20) bestimmt wird durch Verknüpfen von Information über die erkannte Lage des wenigstens einen Verkehrspfades (40; 42; 44; 46; 48) mit Information über die ermittelte Lage der Schrankengeraden (37).
