Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Füllstandsbestimmung eines Tanks (1) der in einem Kraftfahrzeug angeordnet ist. Dieses umfasst das Aussenden eines Ultraschallsignals (21) durch einen Ultraschallsender, die Reflexion des Ultraschallsignals (22) an der Oberfläche (31) einer in dem Tank (1) enthaltenen Flüssigkeit (3) zurück auf einen Ultraschallempfänger, das Messen der Laufzeit des Ultraschallsignals (21, 22) und der Intensität des empfangenen Ultraschallsignals (22), das Berechnen eines Neigungswinkels α des Tanks (1) aus der Intensität des ausgesandten Ultraschallsignals (21) und der Intensität des empfangenen Ultraschallsignals (22), und das Berechnen des Füllstandes des Tanks (1) aus der Laufzeit des Ultraschallsignals (21, 22) und dem Neigungswinkel α des Tanks (1).
