An apparatus for a microwave oven includes a cathode for emitting electrons, a first grid for controlling and focusing the flow of electrons from the cathode, a choke structure for serving as a capacitor, wherein the cathode, the first grid and the choke structure define an input cavity functioning as a resonant circuit. The apparatus further includes a trimming resistor, for inducing a bias voltage on the first grid, a second grid passing through the electron beams of the first grid pass, an anode for receiving the electrons passing through the second grid, the output cavity being defined by the second grid and the anode, and a feedback structure for feeding a portion of the microwave frequency energy back to the input cavity.
