The invention relates to an overhead automatic charging system. The system includes a charger used for providing charging power supply, a first overhead track in horizontal arrangement and a first automatic motion mechanism in guided moving arrangement on the first overhead track; the first automatic motion mechanism is provided with a charging connector electrically connected to the charger and used for charging vehicles below, a driving mechanism used for controlling the charging connector to move up and down, and a positioning device used for recognizing the position of a to-be-charged vehicle; and the first automatic motion mechanism, the driving mechanism and the positioning device are connected to a control power supply used for energy supplying. The first automatic motion mechanismcan drive the charging connector to automatically move to the to-be-charged vehicle, so that the turning on and off of vehicle busbars can be realized by controlling the rising and falling of the charging connector, charging plugs do not need to be manually plugged by personnel who is specially arranged, and centralized automatic charging for multiple electric automobiles in stations can be realized.
