The sleep monitoring system comprises an intelligent terminal and a sleep monitor, wherein the intelligent terminal is used for recording sleep environment sound and recognizing snoring sound; the sleep monitor comprises a wireless module in wire communication with the intelligent terminal, a controller used for receiving a signal from the wireless module or sending a signal to the wireless module, a posture sensor for monitoring the posture of a sleeper and transmitting a posture signal to the controller, an electric pulse module controlled by the controller to generate a stimulation signal, an electrode electrically connected with the electric pulse module and a power supply module for providing electric energy for the sleep monitor. The sleep monitoring system and the sleep monitoring method are capable of more precisely recognizing the snoring sound to prevent and cure the snoring of the sleeper.
