Abstract
(EN) A simulator apparatus for training medical professionals in the procedures of chest tube insertion and/or pericardiocentesis. The apparatus includes a first stand element and a second stand element that form a rib panel base with the two elements substantially at right angles to one another to create a 90-degree stand. A rib panel is removably joined to the two stand elements and includes curved slots representing the spaces between ribs. This allows for the insertion of chest tubes between the simulated rib spaces, using off-the-shelf supplies to create a subcutaneous and skin overlay. For training in pericardiocentesis, the rib panel can be placed on a standard dimension medical basin, which is filled with a training heart with a pericardial effusion created with off-the-shelf supplies. The basin is then filled with echogenic material (water, water and fiber supplement, or gelatin) that facilitates ultrasound.
(FR) L'invention concerne un appareil de simulation destiné à former les professionnels de la médecine à la pratique d'insertion de tubes thoraciques et/ou de péricardiocentèse. L'appareil comprend un premier élément de support et un second élément de support qui forment une base de panneau de côtes, les deux éléments étant sensiblement à angle droit l'un par rapport à l'autre pour créer un support à 90 degrés. Un panneau de côtes est relié de manière amovible aux deux éléments de support et comprend des fentes incurvées représentant les espaces entre les côtes. Ceci permet l'insertion de tubes thoraciques entre les espaces de côtes simulées, utilisant des produits du commerce pour créer un recouvrement sous-cutané et cutané. Pour la formation en péricardiocentèse, le panneau de côtes peut être placé sur un bassin médical de dimensions standards, celui-ci contenant un cœur d'entraînement présentant un épanchement péricardique créé avec des produits du commerce.
