Abstract
(EN) An electrochemical process, and related method and system to upgrade captured CO2into value-added products. CO2 capture technologies based on chemisorption present the potential to lower net emissions of CO2 into the atmosphere. The use of alkali cations to tailor the electrochemical double layer allows achieving the valorization of chemisorbed CO2 in an aqueous amine-based electrolyte, by placing the CO2 of the amine-CO2 adduct sufficiently close to the site of an heterogeneous reaction at the working electrode. It is revealed, using electrochemical studies and in-situ surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, that a smaller double layer distance can correlate with improved activity for CO2 to CO from amine solutions.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé électrochimique et un procédé et un système associés pour valoriser du CO2 capturé en produits à valeur ajoutée. Les technologies de capture de CO2 basés sur la chimisorption présentent le potentiel d'abaisser les émissions nettes de CO2 dans l'atmosphère. L'utilisation de cations alcalins pour adapter la double couche électrochimique permet d'obtenir la valorisation de CO2 fixé par chimisorption dans un électrolyte aqueux à base d'amine par le placement du CO2 du produit d'addition d'amine-CO2 de manière suffisamment proche du site d'une réaction hétérogène au niveau de l'électrode de travail. Il est révélé, à l'aide d'études électrochimiques et d'une spectroscopie Raman exaltée de surface in situ, qu'une distance de double couche plus petite peut être en corrélation avec une activité améliorée de CO2 en CO à partir de solutions d'amine.
