Abstract
(EN) A variable magnification optical system (ZL) comprises a front side lens group (GA) having positive refractive power, a first intermediate lens group (GM1) having negative refractive power, a second intermediate lens group (GM2) having positive refractive power, and a subsequent lens group (GR), the subsequent lens group (GR) including a plurality of focusing lens groups that move along an optical axis at the time of focusing, the second intermediate lens group (GM2) including at least two lens groups having positive refractive power, and the variable magnification system satisfying the following conditional expression. 1.50 < f1/fM21 <7.00 where f1 is the focal length of the front side lens group (GA), and fM21 is the focal length of a lens group closest to the object side among the lens groups included in the second intermediate lens group (GM2).
