Abstract
(EN) An image light guide for conveying image bearing light comprising a substrate operable to propagate image-bearing light beams along a length thereof. An in-coupling diffractive optic is formed along the substrate and is operable to diffract a portion of image-bearing light beams from an image source into the substrate in an angularly encoded form. An out- coupling diffractive optic is formed along the substrate at least partially in a plane having an x-axis and a y-axis, and is operable to diffract a portion of the image-bearing light beams from the substrate in an angularly decoded form. The out-coupling diffractive optic comprises a first plurality of periodic structures and a second plurality of periodic structures operable to diffract a portion of the image-bearing light beams into diffractive orders. The first and second pluralities of periodic structures comprise a plurality of vertices, wherein each adjacent vertex along the x-axis is offset in the y-axis direction.
(FR) L'invention concerne un guide de lumière d'image pour transporter une lumière de support d'image comprenant un substrat utilisable pour propager des faisceaux lumineux portant des images le long d'une longueur de celui-ci. Une optique diffractive de couplage d'entrée est formée le long du substrat et peut fonctionner pour diffracter une partie de faisceaux lumineux porteurs d'image d'une source d'image dans le substrat sous une forme codée angulairement. Une optique diffractive de couplage de sortie est formée le long du substrat au moins partiellement dans un plan ayant un axe x et un axe y, et peut fonctionner pour diffracter une partie des faisceaux lumineux porteurs d'image provenant du substrat sous une forme décodée angulairement. L'optique diffractive de couplage de sortie comprend une première pluralité de structures périodiques et une seconde pluralité de structures périodiques utilisables pour diffracter une partie des faisceaux lumineux porteurs d'image en ordres de diffraction. Les première et seconde pluralités de structures périodiques comprennent une pluralité de sommets, chaque sommet adjacent le long de l'axe x étant décalé dans la direction de l'axe y.
